Now they step to the quarter-final stage later this afternoon 4 PM – not just to carry their undefeated record, but the hopes of the entire Region 8.

This is the moment. The quarter-final stage is set. Region 8 vs Davao — a clash of champions and dreamers, a test of character and and a chance to make history.

May 28, 2025 — The EV Troopers of Region 8 displayed a well played performance in Game 3 of the Futsal Showdown at the Palarong Pambansa 2025, defeating MRAA Region IV-B with a composed and commanding 2–0 victory — and securing the top seed in their group.

The victory of EV Troopers today was based on skill and steel, and it was led by goalkeeping sensation Sasay Cemafranca who is a rock-solid goalkeeper with unwavering focus, and Mary Gil Adino added the cherry on top by scoring the second goal that sealed the victory, while Jane Sesio, composed and precise, started the scoring with a skillfully executed team move.

A performance characterized by teamwork, heart, and championship-level poise was propelled by a pivotal pick from Sofia Barrera and the unwavering determination of Ashly Afable and Ashlyn Mondia.

This win is more than just a scoreline — it's a statement. The EV Troopers play not just for Region 8, but for every voice cheering them - from classrooms, from home and from everyone who believes in them. Keep the fire burning and keep the momentum going, TNHS! EV Troopers the journey isn’t over — the road to the championship is wide open, once again congratulations EV Troopers.

Though the Miss Universe Philippines 2025 Grand Coronation Night did not see her in the Top 24, her journey has already made her a true queen in our hearts. We celebrate her hard work, grace, and growth throughout the pageant season—her poise and dedication shone brightly in every event she joined.

As members of her Taft National High School family, we are beyond proud of how she represented not just Tacloban but also every student and teacher who dares to dream and work hard for it.

As the brilliant mind behind The Conch’s editorial cartoons and digital art, Elgin stands as the school’s most accomplished campus journalist this year—earning a rare podium finish at the Regional Schools Press Conference with her 3rd place win in Editorial Cartooning (English). Her digital artistry became the soul of the school’s award-winning English and Filipino tabloids in the 2025 DSPC, where her visuals didn’t just accompany stories—they deepened them, challenged ideas, and gave the paper its distinct voice.

Completing Junior High with High Honors, Rey serves as Opinion Editor of The Conch, where his voice has shaped the publication’s tone and direction. A bilingual craftsman of words, he delivers compelling editorials, columns, and features in both English and Filipino. In the 2025 DSPC, he emerged as the most distinguished winner—champion in Editorial Writing (English) and silver medalist in Column Writing (English). From Grade 8 to now, Rey has not just contributed to the campus press—he has elevated it.
