Still for Heidi Mendoza — for the greater good.
As someone who has been in a same-sex relationship for over 14 years, I support civil union not because we’re asking for a church-sanctioned marriage, but because we want equal rights under the law. We’re not after the religious definition of marriage; we simply want to be protected and recognized by the legal system the same way heterosexual couples are.
But even with that said, I can set that issue aside for now, because our country is facing far more urgent and widespread problems: corruption, hunger, an ailing healthcare system, and a deeply flawed education system. These are issues that impact every Filipino, regardless of gender or identity.
This is why my vote still goes to Heidi Mendoza. She has long stood for integrity, transparency, and accountability in public service. Sa panahong puro kurakot ang gustong iluklok ng ilan, we need leaders who will fight for the nation, not just for show, not for clout, but for true, good governance.
SOGIE equality matters — but so does saving a nation drowning in systemic abuse. Let's not lose sight of the bigger picture.
