𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗛𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬: TAGBILARAN CITY SUSPENDS CLASSES

At 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟭:𝟬𝟲 𝗔𝗠 today (Monday, October 13, 2025), a 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝟱.𝟴–𝟲.𝟬 earthquake shook parts of 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂. The epicenter was recorded 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝟭𝟭 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 at a shallow depth of 𝟱 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, according to 𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗖𝗦.

𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗖𝗦 has confirmed that this event was an 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸 of the 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝟲.𝟵 earthquake that struck off the northern coast of Cebu.

In 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, the earthquake was felt with light to moderate shaking. As of this report, 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 have been reported. The 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗖𝗗𝗥𝗥𝗠𝗢) is currently assessing barangays and inspecting schools and public structures.

At least 𝟭𝟵 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 were taken to the hospital after inhaling dangerous gas caused by a chemical leak following an alleged explosion of a chlorine machine inside 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗯𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁 in 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗰, 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂, last night.

In a post, 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘀𝗮𝗺 𝗚𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘀 confirmed that a chlorine drum container reportedly exploded, which caused dizziness, vomiting, eye irritation, breathing difficulty, and weakness among resort guests, including children.

Because of this, Gullas ordered concerned departments and city police to conduct further investigation. A 𝗰𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲-𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 was issued against the resort, owned by 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗯𝗮, while awaiting results. Entry to the area has been restricted to prevent further risk.

The resort owner’s wife, 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗶 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗯𝗮, however, denied having a chlorine machine, saying they only use buckets to mix chlorine.

She clarified there was no chemical explosion, explaining that gas emission occurred when their pool caretaker accidentally mixed chlorine with muriatic acid in a bucket.

Four young adults embarked on a hiking trip toward 𝐌𝐭. 𝐊𝐚𝐧-𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐠 in 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐨, passing through 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬. The group did not hire a tour guide, as one member was reportedly familiar with the trail.

According to 𝗡𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗼, barangay captain of Budlaan, the hikers were 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 due to earlier rainfall, but they chose to proceed. “We also learned that the family of the victim warned him to cancel their hike because of the bad weather,” she said in Cebuano.

Rescuers from the 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐮 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐁𝐅𝐏) 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟕’𝐬 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 responded after receiving an alert that afternoon.

The victim, 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀, a resident of 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐤 𝟖, 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐰, became trapped on a boulder near the river in an attempt to avoid the rushing waters. One of his female companions returned to the barangay hall to seek assistance.

Two residents nearby threw a rope to 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀, which he tied around his arm. However, according to 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗼, “Maybe he started to panic because the water level of the river kept rising. According to those who attempted to rescue him, he jumped into the water. They tried to bring him to safety but the current was too strong, and there were only two of them.”

Originally launched in 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, 𝗖𝗧𝗛𝗔 was created to recognize individuals who demonstrated 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 during one of the most difficult periods for the tourism and hospitality sector.

She shared how the first edition of CTHA was launched at a time when workers had shortened hours, faced health risks, and uncertainty, but still delivered with 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲.

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐨𝐧, Station Manager of JCAD TV, presented the platform’s overview, which aims to broaden CONPC’s digital presence and serve as a hub for dynamic, community-driven content.

In addition, CONPC held the 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞” 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰, which will feature news and lifestyle segments created by its members.

According to Alugar, the show is designed to provide contributors with opportunities to earn through exclusive content segments, further supporting the group’s goal of sustainable digital storytelling.

Metro Manila, Philippines — Vietnamese electric transport company Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM) is entering the Philippine market this June with the launch of its fully electric taxi service under the brand “Xanh SM.”

This marks GSM’s fourth international expansion, following its rollouts in Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia.

Backed by Vingroup chairman Phạm Nhật Vượng, GSM is gearing up for a substantial presence in the country by pledging an investment of up to $500 million over the next three years.

The funding will support the development of EV charging networks, the introduction of VinFast electric vehicles, and collaborations with local stakeholders.

This move comes as the Philippines intensifies its transition to eco-friendly transport solutions, particularly in urban centers where traffic congestion and air pollution remain significant challenges.

GSM’s entry is expected to boost green mobility, create job opportunities, and encourage broader adoption of electric vehicles nationwide.

The company’s ride-hailing service, powered by a dedicated mobile app, will feature live vehicle tracking, clear pricing structures, and built-in safety technologies, catering to the growing demand for sustainable and efficient commuting options in Metro Manila and beyond.
