National Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro visited the funeral of Private First Class John Rey Brasil at FDN Funeral Homes in the city of Sagay, Negros Occidental Wednesday afternoon, June 3.
Kaupod ni Teodoro si 3rd Infantry Division Commanding Officer Major General Michael Samson kag 302nd Infantry Brigade Commanding Officer Brigadier General Ted Domosmog.
Tell Teodoro, Brazil's death is the proof that the negros military statements are legitimate that military operations are not being killed by the authorities.
Brazil's co**se will be brought to Murcia, Negros Occidental on Wednesday and will be buried in his wife's house.
Brazil was only 29 years old and joined the military at the age of 19.
Brasil also served as the team leader of the military.
Brazil's family is now asking the AFP to extend the dignity until the end of June, so that his commitment to his wife will be able to celebrate her birthday.
The DND and the Philippine Army are now considering the request of the Murcia LGU to expand the dignity of Brazil's co**se in recognition of his service and sacrifice for the city.

𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃|| Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Wednesday said he has called for an investigation into the latest encounter that resulted in the death of a soldier in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

The secretary’s remarks were also a response to those criticizing the April 19 Toboso clash, which left 19 individuals dead.

Based on initial reports, the individual who killed a soldier from the 79th Infantry Battalion on Monday, June 1, was linked to one of those killed in the Toboso encounter.

VISAYAS GRID BACK UNDER YELLOW ALERT: Thin Reserves Leave Nearly 1,000 MW Offline
VISAYAS REGION — Energy stability in the Visayas remains on thin ice as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) places the Visayas Grid under another Yellow Alert today, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The notice comes as extreme power supply deficits hit the grid, triggered by a massive wave of power plant complications across the region.

🛑 What’s Causing the Shortage?
According to energy officials, a combination of unexpected shutdowns and decreased generation has stripped the grid of vital power reserves:

10 Power Plants on Forced Outage: Ten major generation units across the region have experienced emergency, unplanned shutdowns.

11 Plants Operating at Reduced Capacity: Eleven smaller power facilities are currently unable to run at full strength.

1,000 MW Deficit: Together, these disruptions have knocked nearly 1,000 Megawatts (MW) of electricity offline, severely squeezing the region’s power safety net.

⚡ Government Response & Contingencies
A Yellow Alert indicates that the grid's reserve margin is too low to meet the current demand and contingency requirements, though it does not automatically mean widespread power outages (blackouts) will occur.

To prevent the situation from escalating into a Red Alert, the Department of Energy (DOE) is actively stepping in. The agency is currently coordinating the deployment of operational power barges and high-capacity generator sets to strategic areas to inject emergency power back into the system and alleviate the supply deficit.

💡 What Can Consumers Do?
With the peak alert hours hitting late this afternoon and evening (3:00 PM - 9:00 PM), local authorities and distribution utilities are urging the public to practice energy conservation. Simple steps like turning off non-essential lights, adjusting air conditioning units to a moderate setting, and delaying the use of heavy appliances can collectively reduce grid stress and help avoid rotating power interruptions.

Lubos na kalungkutan at pagpupugay ang aming iniaalay sa kabayanihan at sakripisyo ni PFC JOHN REY BRASIL (INF) PA ng 79th Infantry "Masaligan" Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, na nagbuwis ng buhay habang ginagampanan ang kanyang tungkulin sa isang engkuwentro laban sa mga natitirang kasapi ng New People's Army (NPA) sa Barangay Tamlang, Lungsod ng Escalante, Negros Occidental noong Hunyo 1, 2026.

Ayon sa ulat, nagsagawa ng operasyong pangseguridad ang mga kawal ng 79th Infantry Battalion matapos makatanggap ng impormasyon hinggil sa presensya ng armadong grupo na umano’y nagpaplanong magsagawa ng pag-atake laban sa mga sibilyan. Nagkaroon ng sagupaan na tumagal ng ilang minuto at dito ibinigay ni PFC Brasil ang sukdulang sakripisyo alang-alang sa kapayapaan at kaligtasan ng mamamayan.

Higit pa sa pagiging isang sundalo, si PFC John Rey Brasil ay kilala sa kanyang aktibong pakikilahok sa Youth for Peace Movement Northern Negros Chapter. Sa pamamagitan ng kanyang paglilingkod, naipalaganap niya ang kahalagahan ng kapayapaan, makabayang kamalayan, responsableng pagkamamamayan, at pakikilahok sa mga programang pangkaunlaran ng pamahalaan. Marami siyang kabataang nabigyan ng inspirasyon at pag-asa para sa mas maayos at mapayapang kinabukasan.

Sa kalaunan ng parehong araw, matagumpay na naaresto ng mga awtoridad ang isang hinihinalang kasapi ng armadong grupo sa isang pinagsamang himpilan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines at Philippine National Police sa Barangay Mabini, Escalante City. Patuloy naman ang operasyon ng mga puwersang panseguridad upang matunton at madakip ang iba pang sangkot sa grupo.

🕊️ Sa kabila ng kanyang murang edad, iniwan ni PFC John Rey Brasil ang isang huwaran ng katapangan, katapatan sa tungkulin, at wagas na pagmamahal sa bayan. Ang kanyang sakripisyo ay mananatiling buhay sa alaala ng kanyang pamilya, mga kasamahan sa serbisyo, at ng maraming kabataang kanyang naging inspirasyon.

With profound sorrow and heartfelt respect, the Youth For Peace Movement - Northern Negros Chapter, together with its President Marn Butantan Marco mourns the untimely passing of PFC John Rey Brasil, a dedicated soldier, peace advocate, youth leader, and proud member of our movement.

PFC John Rey was more than a defender of our nation—he was a mentor and inspiration to countless young people. Through his active involvement in Youth for Peace programs, he championed the values of peace, patriotism, responsible citizenship, and community service. His passion for empowering the youth left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and learning from him.

As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also honor the courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment he demonstrated in serving both the Filipino people and the cause of peace. His life stands as a powerful reminder that true leadership is measured by service, sacrifice, and love for others.

PFC John Rey Brasil’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of the youth he inspired and in the peaceful future he helped build.
