Cong. Baba Yap pushes for new and upgraded Fire Stations in Bohol

Tagbilaran City — Cong. Baba Yap is taking the lead in boosting fire safety across Bohol, meeting with Regional Director of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for Region VII – Central Visayas, Fire Chief Superintendent, FCSUPT. Fred Trajerad Jr. to fast-track the establishment and upgrading of fire stations in key towns.

During the meeting, RD FCSUPT. Trajerad praised Tagbilaran for having one of the province’s best fire stations — a testament to strong local leadership. Cong. Yap pledged his full support to ensure other areas can match this standard, prioritizing upgrades for Potohan Tubigon, Del Carmen Weste, Balilihan, San Isidro, Calape Moto Norte, Loon, and Dipatlong, Maribojoc.

“These improvements mean faster response times, better equipment, and safer communities for every Boholano,” Cong. Baba Yap emphasized. With these initiatives, Bohol is set to blaze a new trail in public safety.

Cong. Baba Yap brings updates and hope to senior citizens in Brgy. Tanday, Baclayon

When there’s no session, public service continues on the ground through the Bisitaon Ang Brgy Always (BABA) program.

On a Sunday visit to the Senior Citizens Association of Brgy. Tanday, Baclayon, Cong. Baba Yap personally engaged with elders and discussed an upcoming project set for their barangay. A highlight of the visit was the information drive on the Expanded Centenarians Act, where many seniors learned for the first time that those turning 80, 85, 90, and 95 years old are now entitled to receive ₱10,000 at each milestone.

The ₱100,000 incentive for those reaching 100 years old remains intact, providing renewed hope and recognition for the beloved elders.

“Service doesn’t stop in the halls of Congress—it continues in every barangay, especially for those who have long served our communities,” Cong. Baba Yap said.

Cong. Baba Yap elected Vice Chairperson of major committees in the 20th Congress

Tagbilaran City – A significant milestone for Bohol unfolded as Cong. Baba Yap is elected Vice Chairperson of three powerhouse committees in the 20th Congress: Social Services, Public Works and Highways, and Visayas Development—committees that play a critical role in delivering infrastructure, welfare, and regional growth.

Prior to these new roles, Cong. Baba Yap was first elected as Assistant Majority Leader, a powerful position that allowed him to actively participate in steering legislative priorities in the House of Representatives.

On top of his vice chairmanships, Cong. Yap also earned seats in several strategic committees, including Legislative Franchises, Public Order and Safety, Suffrage and Electoral Reforms, Games and Amusements, and Tourism.

Baba Yap, together with Dr. Laurence Elliot Tirol, Department of Health (DOH) Regional Director Dr. Joshua Brillantes, and the DOH team, conducted an on-site inspection at Gallares Hospital in Cortes to assess its readiness for the upcoming opening. Scheduled to open its doors on August 30, 2025, the hospital is nearing completion and preparing to serve the people of Bohol with modern facilities and specialized care.

Leading the way is the cardiology department, which will be the first to operate—bringing critical heart care closer to home for many Boholanos. The inspection highlighted key upgrades and final touches being made to ensure the hospital meets national standards. Cong. BOHOL — First District Congressman John Geesnell “BABA” Yap informs motorcycle owners that license plates for motorcycles registered in 2017 and earlier (under region 7) are now available for claiming at the nearest LTO office.

Motorcycle owners simply need to bring their Official Receipt (OR), Certificate of Registration (CR), and a valid ID to claim their plate. If someone else is claiming on their behalf, an authorization letter with the owner's ID is required.

This service is completely FREE—no need to pay any fees.

Cong. Baba Yap Hits the Ground Running as 1st District Representative of Bohol

Newly elected 1st District Congressman Baba Yap has officially begun his work in Congress, carrying with him a strong commitment to participative and consultative governance. Staying true to his campaign promise, Cong. Baba is going straight to the grassroots—listening to the concerns of barangays and crafting solutions that truly matter.

Early consultations with barangay officials across District 1 have already revealed urgent local issues. During a visit to the island barangays of Tubigon, Cong. In Loon, he was made aware of the pressing need to establish a local college, as many students are currently forced to travel to Tagbilaran just to access higher education.
