The earthquake last night reminded me of how sensitive our collections are and how we should take steps to secure them. Although, if you are really near the epicenter there is nothing much you can do about it except to hope and pray. Anyway, what's important is that you and your family stay safe. Our material things can come later.

For us, we installed earthquake alarms after the 2013 earthquake in Bohol to give us a few "seconds" of headstart. Those precious few seconds when you are wondering or doubting "is there and earthquake?" Also, sometimes, the alarm goes off earlier when the vibrations are still very low frequency, giving you additional time to react or prepare.
