Whisk Red Velvet Cookies

Ingredients:
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tbsp milk
1 ½ tsp red food coloring (gel preferred for vibrant color)
1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup white chocolate chips
Lemon zest (optional)

Procedure:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg, milk, food coloring, and vanilla.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until combined. Fold in white chocolate chips.
Scoop dough into balls (about 1 ½ tbsp each), place on the baking sheet, and flatten slightly.
Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are set but centers look soft.

Cool on a tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Baking Tip: Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies.

The holidays are here, and nothing says cozy like the smell of fresh gingerbread! Our WHISK crew is rolling out the dough for the ultimate holiday project: a beautiful, homemade Gingerbread House.

🏠 WHISK's Sturdy Gingerbread House Recipe 🎄

Ingredients (for the sturdy dough):
• 3 cups All-purpose flour
• 1 tsp each of Baking Soda, Ginger, and Cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp Ground Cloves
• 1/4 tsp Salt
• 1/2 cup Softened Butter
• 1/2 cup Brown Sugar (packed)
• 1/2 cup Molasses
• 1 large Egg
Instructions Snapshot:
1. Mix: Combine all dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar, then mix in molasses and egg. Gradually add dry ingredients to form a stiff dough.
2. Chill: Wrap the dough and chill for at least 1 hour. This is key for sturdy walls!
3. Bake: Roll the dough to 1/4-inch thick. Cut your pieces using templates. Bake at 350F} (175C}) for 10-15 minutes. Cool completely.
4. Glue: Make Royal Icing (egg whites + lots of sifted powdered sugar) until it holds stiff peaks. Use it as glue for assembly.
5. Decorate: Assemble the house, let the icing set overnight, and then decorate with your favorite candies!

🥖 Hearty & Aromatic: WHISK’s Spanish Bread

The sweet swirl of cinnamon and brown sugar tucked into a soft, golden roll has been my year-round comfort treat and a staple in my kitchen.

Whether enjoyed with a cup of black coffee or as a simple sweet snack, this Filipino classic brings warmth to every bite.

🍞 Dough Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour

3 tbsp brown sugar

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

½ cup warm whole milk (about 110°F)

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

½ tsp salt

🍯 Filling Ingredients
½ cup fine breadcrumbs

¼ cup packed brown sugar

2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon

🧈 Topping
¼ cup breadcrumbs

2 tbsp melted butter

🔪 Procedure:
Activate yeast: Combine warm milk and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5–7 minutes until foamy.

Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, and salt.

Form dough: Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead: Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.

Make filling: Mix breadcrumbs, brown sugar, softened butter, and cinnamon until crumbly and aromatic.

Shape rolls: Punch down dough and divide into 12 pieces. Roll each into an oval about ¼ inch thick.

Fill & roll: Spread about a tablespoon of filling on each oval. Roll tightly into logs and pinch seams.

Top & second rise: Brush with melted butter, roll in breadcrumbs, and place on parchment-lined tray. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and lightly crisp.

Cool: Let cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.

🎄 WHISK’s Christmas Raisin Bread
Mix, bake & spread the warmth this season!

Prep Time: 50 min Servings: 14 Calories: ~315 per slice

🧺 Ingredients
0.25 oz active dry yeast
0.75 cup warm water
0.75 cup evaporated milk
0.33 cup sugar
0.33 cup shortening
0.5 tsp salt
2 large eggs
3–4 cups all-purpose flour (as needed)
1 cup mixed candied fruit
0.5 cup raisins
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup confectioners' sugar
0.25 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp milk

Extra candied fruit for garnish

🍞 Procedure:
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

Stir in evaporated milk, sugar, shortening, salt, eggs, and 2 cups of flour. Beat until smooth.

Fold in candied fruit, raisins, and cinnamon. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (do not knead).

Transfer to a greased bowl, turning once to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, 1½ to 2 hours.

Punch down dough. Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 3–4 minutes.

Pat evenly into a greased 10-inch tube pan. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 45 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30–35 minutes, tenting with foil if browning too quickly.

Cool on a wire rack.

Mix confectioners' sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bread. Garnish with candied fruit.
