Across the evening, each look fused meticulous craftsmanship with avant-garde vision, reinforcing the Met’s ongoing dialogue between fashion and art.

In perfect dialogue with this year’s Met Gala theme, “Costume Art,” and its dress code, “Fashion Is Art,” Olympian and fashion muse Eileen Gu () delivered one of the night’s most visionary looks.

Wearing Iris van Herpen’s Airo Dress, created in collaboration with A.A. Murakami (.a.murakami), the look explored the atomic anatomy of the human body, 99.9% empty space, yet charged with invisible energy and endless possibility.

Hidden microprocessors released constellations of floating iridescent bubbles, while 15,000 hand-formed iridescent glass bubbles shimmered across the gown like a living cosmos.

More than fashion, it was wearable art in its purest form, a poetic interpretation of the body, science, and the beauty of what cannot be seen.
