“Read it, please! Read it! Read it! Read it!” says my two-year old daughter

For now, I read her Hafez.

You’ll get a glimpse of real life one day, my dear.
Someday, just not today.
I promise.

"For anyone who wants it all, may you find something that is more than enough."

The love story is just the icing on the cake. The book offers so much more.

🎊 LITTLE MISS… 🎊

QOTD: what’s a book you own but haven’t read yet?

I love these bookish Little Miss characters everyone makes (I know I know, this trend is old)- but this one is my soul animal because my physical TBR is astronomical 😅😂

Half way thru my current read and the delivery guy came to hand me these.

Not the January wrap up I have in mind but I waited monthsssss for these books so please indulge me!

Claim that 2025 will be a season for (more) reading!

Officially on deferment, so I’m back to reading non-real-world things 😅

I struggled for most of January and only restarted reading last week! Lisbeth helped me get out of that awful reading rut—again.

Eight or so years after I first read it, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo still holds up so well. Lisbeth delivers. Always.

First bookstagram check-in for 2026 because the previous year ended differently than planned. Different, but good.

I didn't manage to make a "best of 2025" wrap-up because my daughter got sick during the holidays, but thankfully she's feeling better now and is back to saying words in sentence form (we have a madaldal girl here!) and using "difficult" words. Toddler parents know! 🫠

Finally, on a much-needed break with my small family since September, and of course, I couldn't miss a Fullybooked visit. I managed to snag these titles and some new pens. I've been thinking of journaling, but I know I just needed an excuse to get a good pen. Sarasa Grand, finally, in the color that I want!

I wasn't supposed to get new books earlier, but I couldn't locate my NYRB copy of Good Behaviour, and I totally forgot that I only left my The Tortoise and the Hare in our place here and didn't really lose it. My wallet gave out a sigh of relief, I think. This Hashimi was sitting quietly in the dark corner of the fiction rack, and I learned it's only under 500 pesos. It's a pocketbook, not my usual preference, but I'm happy I got it.

Just got out of a meeting and enjoying the quiet afternoon as I compose this while I wait for my daughter to wake up.

Okay, she just woke up and asked for milk. Let's hope I can read later tonight.

To more books in 2026! Cheers!

Taking a well-deserved break from work, I opened my books from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

Surat Sug by Dr. Samuel K. Tan, a two-volume series, highlights the significance of archival research. It offers insights into the Sultanate, the effects of American influence in the region, the prolonged, complex armed conflicts, and other related topics.

With Sulu's recent transfer from BARRM to Region IX, these books have become essential reading for everyone in the Zamboang Peninsula.

November in books: Books read versus books bought.

One of my highlights this month was receiving my pre-ordered books from blithebooksindependent. Just a close second to my daughter choosing to be called by her nickname instead of her given name.

I also read The Satisfaction Cafe by Kathy Wang and half of the 1818 text of Frankenstein.

What's your favorite read this month?

Happy Sunday, readers!

Must read.

Must read.

'The writer of a children’s book has license to abandon time and place, to create, to propose alternatives.'

As we look toward the Children’s Booker Prize, Penelope Lively reflects on why children’s books matter.
