: Today is National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), by virtue of RA No. 10398, sponsored by Sen. Pia Cayetano. This also marks the start of the Philippines’ 18-Day Campaign to .

According to the 's 2018 Violence Against Women Prevalence Estimates, 1 in 3 women are subjected to physical and/or sexual violence across their lifetime, often by their own intimate partner. The sad reality is, this number has "remained largely unchanged over the past decade."

As principal sponsor of the Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710) - a landmark law promoting the rights of Filipino women - Sen. Pia has been steadfast in the fight against gender-based violence, and has always believed that ending VAWC begins with awareness.

By educating more people, supporting victims, and advocating for genuine equality, we can all help build a society where women and children are free from violence. Let’s take action today. Speak out against VAWC. Together, we can make a difference. 💜
