The Pole takes pride in welcoming its dedicated campus journalists to the School Paper Orientation, an event that signifies the beginning of another year of journalistic excellence and collaboration.

Guided by the words of Mrs. Joyce V. Cueva, English Department Head, and our very own School Paper Adviser, Sir Dane, the orientation highlighted the essence of responsible journalism and the unity that strengthens every writer and editor’s craft.

Moreover, with the magnificent presence of our very supportive school principal, Mr. Santiago T. Alvis, the event became even more inspiring through his words of encouragement and affirmation.

As the participants prepare for the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), this gathering served as both a reminder and an inspiration—that through truth, creativity, and integrity, every story has the power to create change.

As the World Teachers' Month draws to an end, we seize this day as a moment to honor the unwavering commitment, compassion, and wisdom of every teacher who continues to sharpen the minds of learners, shaping the world for an enlightened tomorrow through education.

Teachers are more than just mentors—they are the builders of character, nurturers of potential, and cultivators of knowledge. Their guidance not only imparts knowledge but also fosters resilience, values, and aspirations to lifelong learners.

Ultimately, this event serves as an annual reminder for us to continue recognizing their efforts, sacrifices, and contributions, and to ensure that they are given the respect, support, and gratitude that they truly deserve.

In an age where young Filipinos face the pressures of academic performance, career development, and personal well-being, Pamela Grace Natividad stands as a role model of balance and perseverance. Her ability to thrive amid these challenges embodies the resilience many aspire to in a country where opportunities are often met with adversity. Pamela’s commitment to growth reflects an indomitable youthful spirit—one that strives for success against all odds.

With passion in her eyes and each graceful stroke in the water, she pushes her limits. Her blue cap and dark goggles symbolize her unwavering focus and dedication. What began as a curiosity has evolved into an enduring passion, propelling her through the water with unstoppable drive and an electrifying dedication to excellence.

Currently a fourth-year Physical and Health Education student at the Philippine Normal University (PNU), Pamela balances her studies with her role as a dedicated member of the swimming team, now in her third year. Her background as a former news writer and radio broadcaster for The Pole adds to her diverse skill set.

At a young age, she successfully juggled journalism, pageantry, and academics. In high school, she thrived in journalism, reaching the Regional Schools Press Conference and earning several accolades in school pageants.

“Noong junior high school, naging managing editor ako ng school paper at taon-taon akong participant sa RSPC. Noong senior high school naman, broadcaster ako ng The Pole. Sa pageant, dalawang beses din akong sumali sa WBNHS at nakapag-uwi ng mga award. Bukod doon, puro academics at journalism lang talaga ako noong high school. Sa kolehiyo na ako nagkaroon ng sport,” Pamela stated.

Pamela serves as editor-in-chief of The Torch Unfold, the publication of the PNU varsity club. Despite academic and personal responsibilities, she continues to excel in swimming, winning a silver medal last year in the 4x50 women’s freestyle relay.

“Balancing my time is hard, so I barely have leisure time. Being an athlete is what I enjoy the most, even if it’s tiring and takes away my time to rest. Winning a silver medal last year in the 4x50 women’s freestyle relay was a significant achievement, especially since it was my first time competing,” she said.

A persistent Pamela stands amidst the echoes of praise and victory. She fulfills multiple roles as a diligent pharmacy assistant, ambitious student, and passionate athlete. Her determination enables her to embrace every role with purpose and poise, a testament to her resilience and unbreakable spirit.

“I’m a working student-athlete, so it’s pretty hard. I’m a regular student from Monday to Friday, and my training is on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for both water and land training. Then I work part-time as a pharmacy assistant during weekends,” Pamela proudly shared.

Pamela envisions a future where swimming transcends personal ambition, opening doors to broader opportunities. She aspires to pursue coaching and teaching, aiming for personal growth while inspiring young people to embrace resilience and grace.

“Before I graduate, I’ll try to land a job, just like my seniors did. After graduating, I’ll start working while studying and preparing for the LET, along with pursuing my master’s degree at PNU. Hopefully, the school where I’ll be teaching has a swimming team, so I can also coach,” she enthusiastically revealed.

Driven by an insatiable thirst for improvement, Pamela has no intention of resting on her laurels. Her passion and determination resonate with every splash of water, creating a symphony of dedication and resilience that inspires those around her.

Since time began, life—even in its most primitive state—has been driven to advance. From swimming in vast oceans to walking across immense plains, the urge to go beyond has been a legacy passed down from our distant ancestors as we continue to navigate the world.

Now, SpaceX, a private organization founded in California, United States, is one step closer to reaching Mars.

Instead of remaining within the confines of our home planet, SpaceX has taken on the challenge of revolutionizing space technology, aspiring to lay the groundwork for humanity’s presence on other planets.

Through a series of groundbreaking projects, SpaceX achieved a historic milestone during its fifth test flight on October 14—they caught a booster rocket midair.

“A big step towards making life multiplanetary was made today,” posted Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX, on X (formerly Twitter).

Starship, SpaceX’s Mars-bound rocket, and its “Super Heavy” booster, the component that propels it into space, lifted off at exactly 7:25 a.m. CT (8:25 p.m. PST) in Boca Chica, Texas.

After the 232-foot-tall booster—comparable in height to the Statue of Liberty—completed its task, Super Heavy descended back to its launch site for a remarkable midair capture by Mechazilla.

At this incredible sight, Kate Tice, SpaceX’s Quality Systems Engineering Manager, expressed her amazement during the official livestream.

“On the first-ever attempt, we have successfully caught the Super Heavy booster back at the launch tower,” Tice announced.

The controlled return of Super Heavy marks a major breakthrough in space technology, as it became the first rocket to be secured in-flight.

Mechazilla, with its chopstick-like mechanical arms, is a specialized launch tower designed to lift and catch large structures like Starship and Super Heavy, enabling their rapid reassembly on-site.

This structure allows for quick turnaround between launches and landings, a vital step in making reusable rockets and cost-effective space travel a reality.

In a subsequent post on X, Musk stated that the first flights to Mars could occur within two years if testing continues to progress.

“The first Starships to Mars will launch in two years, during the next Earth-Mars transfer window. These missions will be uncrewed to test the reliability of landing intact on Mars. If these landings go well, the first crewed flights to Mars will be in four years.”

This successful fifth test illustrates SpaceX’s commitment to manufacturing and launching the world’s most advanced rockets and spacecraft. With each development, SpaceX moves steadily closer to its ambitious vision of interplanetary exploration.

While this achievement may seem like an isolated triumph, it speaks to the broader potential of humanity. If we can accomplish this, what else is within our reach? Where else can we go?
