The recently concluded IFAF ASIA FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP held in McKinley Hill Stadium last May 27 and 28 was the 2nd international event hosted by the Philippines. 6 countries participated to determine the official ranking ... Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Japan grabbed gold, Thailand silver and Korea for the bronze. Our very own Team Pilipinas who had no defeat on the first day, lost to Japan at the quarterfinals. A jard fought 3rd place battle against Korea saw lead changes almost every possession but eventually a collapse on the defensive end on the last minute doomed the Philippines to place 4th. Kuwait was 5th while the very young Vietnam team placed 6th.

Day 1 - of the IFAF ASIA FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Japan sneaked in a win over the tough Kuwaitis to open the tournament with a 28 score to win. Defending champions Thailand proved too strong to the rookie team of Vietnam with a lopsided score of 71. 2nd series of games saw Philippines dismantle Vietnam with a high score of 58. Kuwait was handed its 2nd straight defeat from the hands of south Korea for a comfortable win of 37.
3rd series of the game saw powerhouses Korea and Japan battle each other with Japan grabbing its 2nd win. Philippines and Thailand ended with a tie to end the elimination round.

At the quarterfinals, Korea won easily against Vietnam with the shutdown of the tournament of score 40.
Phils vs Kuwait was a different story with a back and forth lead changes. Team Phils came up the winner with a determined score of 33.

Day 2 - was the pivotal semifinals and the finals.
The semifinals between the 1 seeds vs the number w seeds of both brackets was almost identical with top seeds gaining an early lead. Japan (1) easily won against a tired Philippine team. Japan 40 phils 19. Thailand (1) continuos its defense of its crown against Korea. Thaialnd 41 korea 21.
The finals was a rematch of last years championship at Vietnam. Defending champs Thaialnd looking for a repeat against Japan. But japan had other ideas. Kapan with its tough defense and precise offense won its handily over thailand with a score of .... IFAF ASIA FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP crowned its new champs ... Team Japan.
