Day 4 is for learning while having fun!

After meaningful engagements in Wellington, we’ve made our way north to visit Auckland University of Technology (AUT)—one of New Zealand’s most future-forward institutions. Known for its sustainable and innovative buildings. The WZ Building (Ngā Wai Hono) in particular is a standout as with exposed services and a focus on sustainable features, and has won architectural awards.

The learning mission continues as we explore opportunities for faculty, trainer, and student exchanges; transnational collaboration through credit transfers; innovative approaches like micro-credentials and enterprise-based training; and world-class TVET quality assurance and standards development frameworks.

This visit is all about connection.
Not just learning best practices—but co-creating new ones.
Not just taking notes—but building bridges.

A transactional and transformational day 3 at Wellington NZ, where best practices, innovation, collaboration and sharing of cultures are shared.

Kicked things off with a visit to Victoria University of Wellington, exploring their cutting-edge facilities and discussing specialized training programs for government officials developed and offered bu the Wellington Uni Professional. Grateful for the warm welcome and meaningful conversations on future collaboration.

We also had the pleasure of meeting with Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, where we were warmly welcomed with a pōwhiri, a traditional Māori welcoming ceremony. This powerful and deeply respectful process includes speeches, song, and the hongi—the pressing of noses—to acknowledge the coming together of two groups, fostering mutual respect and connection.

We explored exciting pathways for joint curriculum development, vocational trainer exchanges, and workforce development initiatives — all with a shared vision of empowering learners and strengthening global partnerships.

Wellington, you’ve inspired us with your views and your vision. Looking forward to building something great together!

TESDA Meets NZQA: Powering Up Day 2 with Global Education Insights!

Her Excellency, Ambassador Kira Christianne D. Azucena’s warm welcome was more than enough to chase away Wellington’s cold breeze.

Today’s engagements with New Zealand opened exciting opportunities for Philippine higher education! Highlights include discussion of the quality assurance process, New Zealand Qualifications Framework, stronger systems for micro-credentials and cros-credit arrangements.

Also had the honor to join CHED Commissioner Dr. Ethel Agnes Valenzuela and Her Excellency Kira Azucena, Philippine Ambassador to New Zealand, for a courtesy call on Hon. Dr. Shane Reti, New Zealand’s Minister for Universities.

Across time zones and a few seasons later, the TESDA delegation touches down in the Land of the Long White Cloud to start the Benchmarking TVET and Micro-Credentials here in beautiful Aotearoa!

Day 1 kicked off with an in-depth look at the employer-led apprenticeship framework and how it functions within the New Zealand context. Grateful for the warm welcome from Ambassador Azucena and our New Zealand counterparts. We're here to learn, share, and build bridges—exploring best practices in micro-credentials, lifelong learning, vocational education, and more.

This mission is a step toward a stronger PH-NZ partnership in education—paving the way for a formal cooperation agreement by 2026, in time for 60 years of diplomatic ties.

Wrapped up a productive and collaborative Simulation-Workshop aimed at refining the Program registration process — and the impact was truly meaningful.

Industry leaders from IT-BPM, Construction, Health and TESDA personnel came together to tackle one of the program’s key challenges: the registration bottleneck. What made this workshop stand out was our shift in perspective — we addressed the issue through the eyes of our industry partners themselves.

We tackled pressing questions, welcomed valuable insights from the industry, and realigned our systems to pave the way for a faster, more efficient EBET roll-out.

The 127th Independence Day celebration held yesterday at the Quirino Grandstand rekindled the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of all TESDAns. Guided by the theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”, TESDA reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to empowering Filipinos through skills development—paving the way for a more inclusive and progressive future.
