WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN SCHOOL CLUBS
Benefits of Joining that Last a Lifetime
by Jamaicah Tacan
When I first heard about Club Day, I thought it was just a fun break from regular classes where you could walk around, look for some clubs to join in, grab some snacks, and go home. But I now see that Club Day is much more than that. It's one of the most important days of the school year and can influence your future in ways you might not expect.
Walking around inside the gym during Club Day, you can see different kinds of interesting clubs: the Sci-Math Club, the Cultural Organization, the Red Cross, the Bartending Club, and more. There's something for everyone, and that's the beauty of it. Joining a club is not just a way to spend your free time. I found that being in a club helps you learn skills. Skills like talking with others, leading, working in a team, and solving problems. For instance, being in the Cultural Organization helped me see how important self-expression is, whether it's through dance, music, art, or language. Working with different people taught me how to lead, work together, and feel proud of myself.
Clubs help you meet new friends. School can be big and stressful, but joining a club gives you a smaller group where you feel important. You have common interests, work on projects together, and make real friends. Some of my best school memories started when I joined the Cultural Organization. Also, being in clubs looks good on college applications and job resumes. It shows you are active, curious, and willing to learn. More importantly, clubs help you understand yourself better, like what you are good at and what you care about. This kind of self-discovery is very valuable.
If you think Club Day is only for fun or for specific students, I encourage you to think again. You might discover something that inspires you, and you never know where that inspiration could take you.
