It was a hot Tuesday afternoon, the blazing sun hung proudly in the sky of Aces Tagum College, smithing down the crowded gymnasium like a hammer upon a steaming hot steel. Despite the lazy breeze of the huge industrial fans overhead, it failed to ease up the pressure as anticipation steadily rose; the program was about to begin.
At the left and right sides of the stadium stood both of the parties with each member of their partylist. The spotlight flickered to life, and a hush swept away all the noise as members of each party started to introduce themselves. After a brief moment of introduction, the atmosphere shifted โ as the real purpose of the event began to unfold.
The panel segment commenced; one by one, the front-row panelists began asking questionsโnot to humiliate, but to unravel. Promises were no longer enough. Teachers demanded clarity, accountability, and weighted but factual words. Vague slogans were subjective, and idealistic claims were met with the practical truth.
The SANDIGAN Partylist was caught off-guard by a budget-related question, scrambled to present a suitable answer for the implementation plans of their proposed campus-wide Wi-Fi service. Their composure held, but the cracks began to show โ shaky hands and a stuttering voice, brief moments of hesitation masked with forced smiles.
Across the gym, the YOUTHNITY Partylist, stood with confidence, but even they weren't spared as questions about real leadership experience and contingency plans revealed just how prepared โ or unprepared โ some members were. A few responses felt rehearsed, others felt too raw and unrelated.
Nevertheless, both parties did a very good job in defending and explaining their stand. Their platforms โ while challenged and questioned, were never meaningless. Both were connected in a shared desire: to serve, to represent, and to create change within the walls of Aces Tagum College. Though imperfections were laid under the sharp eyes of the panel, what emerged from it all was something deeper than performance โ it was a proof of potential. A potential to lead the school to reach greater heights. Because in the end, leadership is not about who could speak the loudest, but it's about who could stand the strongest even under the overwhelming pressure.
