Important tips during an earthquake to help keep you safe:

🏠 If you’re indoors:
1. Stay inside β€” don’t run outside during shaking.
2. Drop, Cover, and Hold On:
β€’ Drop to the ground to avoid falling.
β€’ Cover your head and neck under a sturdy table or desk.
β€’ Hold on until the shaking stops.
3. Stay away from:
β€’ Windows, mirrors, glass, and heavy furniture that might fall.
β€’ Cabinets or shelves that could tip over.
4. If you’re in bed, stay there β€” protect your head with a pillow.
5. Do not use elevators.

🏒 If you’re in a building:
β€’ Move away from walls and windows.
β€’ If possible, take cover under something strong (like a desk).
β€’ Stay put until the shaking stops, then evacuate calmly.

πŸš— If you’re driving:
β€’ Pull over to the side of the road and stop safely.
β€’ Avoid stopping under bridges, trees, power lines, or overpasses.
β€’ Stay inside the car until the shaking stops.

🌳 If you’re outdoors:
β€’ Move to an open area away from buildings, trees, streetlights, and power lines.
β€’ Drop to the ground and cover your head and neck.

πŸ₯ After the shaking stops:
1. Be alert for aftershocks.
2. Check yourself and others for injuries.
3. Turn off gas, electricity, or water if you suspect leaks or damage.
4. Use your phone only for emergencies.
5. Evacuate calmly if the building is unsafe.
6. Listen to official news or radio for updates.
