A legacy 75 years in the makingโ€”built piece by piece, life by life, heart by heart.
This morning, Saint Joseph High School of Talakag, Inc. joyfully opened its 75th Founding Anniversary celebration with meaningful traditions that honored both the past and present.

The day began with the Josean Walk, a symbolic journey of unity where alumni and current students walked side by sideโ€”representing the unbroken bond shared by generations of Joseans. This was followed by a solemn Thanksgiving Mass, lifting our hearts in gratitude for the blessings and milestones God has bestowed upon our school.

In harmony, alumni and students led the Invocation and National Anthem, their voices blending into oneโ€”a reflection of the unity and patriotism that defines our community.

Our beloved school principal, Mrs. Ivy A. Echavez, delivered her heartfelt Opening Remarks, reminding us of our rich history, cherished achievements, and the ongoing mission we all share as Joseans. Messages of inspiration followed from Sr. Gina L. Dahan, MCM, MAED, and Ms. Koena Anjelika R. Alim, who emphasized the lifelong impact of Catholic education in shaping compassionate and morally grounded individuals.

One of the morningโ€™s highlights was the presentation of the official logo for the 75th Founding Anniversary celebrationโ€”a vibrant symbol of growth, renewal, and readiness for the future, while staying anchored to our mission and values.

A special musical performance by the Amazing Duo, Mrs. Genette B. Bigcas and Ms. Michelle Genette B. Bigcas, filled the room with joy, followed by a heartfelt presentation from alumni and students that beautifully captured the enduring spirit of Saint Joseph.

We also proudly launched โ€œPieces of Usโ€, a memory-sharing campaign that gathers unforgettable SJHSTI moments from students and alumniโ€”each story a piece of the 75-year puzzle we continue to complete together.

The morningโ€™s program closed with a touching song performed by both alumni and students, leaving the audience with full hearts and deep pride in the school we call home.

And this is just the beginning. The celebration continues this afternoon with games and activities designed to bring more joy, laughter, and memories to this already unforgettable day.

Long live Saint Joseph High School!
75 years of gratitude, growth, and graceโ€”may we continue to shine, serve, and inspire for many more years to come.

Not all stories begin with loud celebrations. Some begin quietlyโ€”with a prayer, a classroom, and a single piece falling into place.

Founded on July 1, 1950 by Rev. Fr. Efecio Dolalas, SJ, Saint Joseph High School of Talakag, Inc. (SJHSTI) began as a small Catholic school with a big dream: to offer quality education rooted in faith to the youth of Bukidnon. What started as a humble mission has now grown into a legacyโ€”75 years strong and still unfolding.

For 42 years, the school was under the dedicated care of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). These years were marked by rigorous academic formation, values-based education, and a firm foundation in faith. Even after the Jesuits passed the torch, their influence continues to echo through every classroom, prayer, and outreach program.

For generations of Joseans, the school has been more than a place of learningโ€”it has been a home. Itโ€™s in the classrooms where friendships were formed, where confidence was built, and where dreams were first spoken out loud. From morning flag ceremonies to recollectionsโ€”each experience shaped young minds to become people of purpose.

Alumni from different batches often speak of the same thing: how SJHSTI never left them. Even as they went on to become professionals, farmers, OFWs, entrepreneurs, and parents, they carried the values they learned hereโ€”discipline, faith, and service. Each of them remains a piece of the schoolโ€™s legacy, their journeys proving that this small town school reaches far beyond its gates.

SJHSTI has never stood alone. It has grown with the town of Talakagโ€”educating generations of families, nurturing future leaders, and responding to the needs of the community. From hosting Masses and seminars to organizing outreach programs and environmental efforts, the school has always extended its mission beyond its walls.
Whether itโ€™s leading clean-up drives, offering catechism to nearby barangays, or simply forming students who return to Talakag to serveโ€”the school remains a vital puzzle piece in the townโ€™s development.

Seventy-five years may sound like a long time, but when you break it down, itโ€™s made up of moments:
โ€ขA studentโ€™s first time reading at Mass.
An alumnus sending their own child to SJHSTI.
A teacher staying late to help a struggling learner.
A whole community gathered under one roof, praying and learning together.

Like puzzle pieces, these moments may seem smallโ€”but together, they form a complete picture of love, faith, and transformation. As we celebrate 75 fruitful years, we remember: we are all pieces of this story.

And the picture weโ€™ve created together is more beautiful than any of us couldโ€™ve imagined.

Day 2 of ORSEM 2025 was nothing short of electric, buzzing with excitement as students dove headfirst into club life and embraced new leadership opportunities.
The day began with an energetic opening program at the New Covered Court (NCC), where student leaders proudly introduced their clubs through creative and spirited presentations. From academic societies and sports teams to performing arts groups and special interest clubs, SJHS showcased a rich variety of organizationsโ€”ensuring every student could find a place to belong.
Then came the highly anticipated Club Hopping. Students eagerly roamed the campus, exploring vibrant booths that brought each clubโ€™s personality to life through colorful posters, engaging videos, and live demonstrations. Club members warmly welcomed new faces, shared their stories, and inspired others to discover and pursue their passions.
But it wasnโ€™t just about joining. It was also a day for leading. After signing up, clubs wasted no time in holding their officer elections, giving students the chance to step up and shape the direction of their groups for the year ahead. From presidents to secretaries, new leaders emergedโ€”ready to serve and make a difference.
โ€œItโ€™s exciting because we didnโ€™t just join clubs; we also got to choose who will lead us this school year,โ€ shared a Grade 7 student who joined the Math-Sci Com Club. โ€œIt really made me feel that I can have a voiceโ€”even as a new student.โ€
The day wrapped up with the announcement of newly elected officers, group photos, and a sense of pride that filled the air. Day 2 of ORSEM 2025 wasnโ€™t just about exploring optionsโ€”it was about igniting school spirit, building community, and empowering students to take the lead.

Joseans, did you really think you'd walk in on the first day and jump straight into classes? Grabe naman!

As BINI reminds us in their hit songโ€”โ€œBuhay ay โ€˜di kareraโ€โ€”thereโ€™s no need to rush. Thatโ€™s why the Supreme Student Government (SSG) made sure your first day wasnโ€™t filled with lectures and deadlines, but with connection, fun, and full-on campus vibes.

On June 16, 2025, Saint Joseph High School of Talakag, Inc., officially kicked off Orientation Seminar (ORSEM) 2025 with a colorful and empowering BINI-themed celebration!

As early as 6:30 a.m., Joseans arrived in vibrant outfits and expressive styles. While staying within the bounds of the school's dress code, students were encouraged to show off their fashion and personalityโ€”living up to this yearโ€™s theme: "This is Your Season to Bloom."

The day began with opening remarks from our ever-beloved school principal, Mrs. Ivy A. Echavez, who inspired everyone with her message on the schoolโ€™s vision, mission, and core values:
โ€œWhen nurtured with care, each one of you can shine and flourish in your own way.โ€

This was followed by an energizing round of GTKY (Get to Know You)โ€”with a twist! Laughter echoed and talents bloomed as Joseans creatively introduced themselves and formed new friendships.

The program continued with the formal introduction of the faculty and staff by Mrs. Echavez, followed by a series of engaging orientations led by key school personnel:

Of course, it wouldnโ€™t be a complete Josean celebration without performances! BINI-inspired intermission numbers lit up the stage, adding even more color and excitement to the morning.

Before dismissal, Joseans were guided in performing the proper procedure for the flag ceremony, reinforcing discipline and unity as we bloom together this school year.

And to top it all off? A sweet and meaningful birthday surprise for our ever-supportive SHS Coordinator and SSG Moderator, Mrs. Joyce A. Alguzar! Her constant dedication and love for the student body made the day even more special.

Indeed, ORSEM 2025 was not just an orientationโ€”it was a celebration of identity, growth, and the bright year ahead. What a colorful way to begin the academic year!

See you again tomorrow, Joseans! Letโ€™s keep blooming together! ๐ŸŒธ

The Basic Orientation and Leadership Training Seminar (BOLTS) successfully happened on June 11โ€“12 at the New Covered Court of Saint Joseph High School of Talakag, Inc. This two-day training equipped the newly elected Student Government members with the foundational skills they need as emerging leaders of the institution.

The seminar was facilitated by Mr. Kailov Auyo R. Alim and Mr. Kharim Angelo R. Alim, proud alumni of Saint Joseph High School of Talakag, Inc., who generously shared their time, knowledge, and leadership experiences.

Throughout the seminar, the participants learned essential leadership values, including the five principles of a good leader, proper ex*****on of parliamentary procedures, and the preparation of vital documents such as project proposals and liquidation reports. More than just technical skills, the seminar fostered camaraderie among the officers, helping them build trust and collaboration which are the cornerstones of effective student leadership.

With a strong head start, these young leaders are now ready to serve with purpose, integrity, and a heart for the Josean community.

Today, we commemorate one of the holiest celebrations in the Islamic faithโ€”Eid al-Adha, or the Festival of Sacrifice.

Rooted in the story of Prophet Ibrahimโ€™s unwavering faith, Eid al-Adha honors his willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allahโ€™s commandโ€”a test of devotion that was answered with divine mercy. As Allah replaced his son with a ram, this powerful moment became a symbol of faith, surrender, and trust in divine will.

Muslims around the world mark this occasion with special prayers, the act of Qurbani (sacrificial slaughter of livestock), and the sharing of food and blessings with family, neighbors, and those in need. It is a time for reflection, generosity, and unityโ€”a reminder that true devotion goes hand in hand with compassion.

As we join our Muslim brothers and sisters in observing this sacred day, may we all be inspired by its values: faith, selflessness, and community.

May peace and harmony prevail in our hearts and in the world.

From rushed deadlines to late-night edits, from chaotic brainstorming to the proud moment of seeing our work in printโ€”youโ€™ve been our compass in the storm, our calm in the rush, and yes, sometimes, even our walking cup of coffee.

Youโ€™re more than an adviser. You are the ink in our pens, the reason our drafts become stories, and the quiet push behind every brave idea we dared to write down. You believed in us when we were still learning to believe in ourselves.

Your wordsโ€”whether in the margins of our articles or in passing conversationsโ€”have a way of lingering. You made us feel that what we write matters, that what we feel matters. That we matter.

One of our core memories, and one weโ€™ll carry forever, was after our last BUACS Press Conference. Even though you couldnโ€™t be with us physically, we felt your support. Your encouragement echoed through every challenge we faced. And when your congratulations finally reached usโ€”it meant everything. In that moment, we didnโ€™t just feel seen; we felt loved, supported, and very proud to be your team.

We hope today, and every day, you feel how deeply valued you areโ€”not just as the heart of this publication, but as someone who continues to shape young writers into brave voices.

So this is to you:
To the woman who can sigh and say everything without a word,
Who can spot a missing comma with laser precision,
And who can turn a blank page into a classroom, a lesson, and a leap of faith.

We wish you a birthday filled with the same spark you bring to every edit, every pep talk, and every quiet moment of guidance.

We love you more than red ink and coffee combined. Keep writing your beautiful story, Maโ€™am Koena. We are endlessly honored to be a part of it.

With love and gratitude,
