In observance of World Mental Health Day and Su***de Prevention Month, the ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ณ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ (๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ฆ), headed by ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐ก. ๐ ๐ถ๐ด๐๐ฒ๐น, in partnership with the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) Confederation, conducted a Su***de Awareness and Prevention Seminar on October 10, 2025, at 8:00 AM in the Audio Visual Room (AVR) of the NEUST Talavera Off-Campus.
The seminar aimed to strengthen mental health awareness and educate students on recognizing early signs of emotional distress, fostering supportive relationships, and preventing su***de. It was attended by BEEd Fourth Year students, with representatives from OSAS and the Guidance and Counseling Unit present to support the activity.
The program began with the Philippine National Anthem, followed by an invocation led by ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ก๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฉ. ๐ฆ๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ, BEEd Confederation Mayor. Opening Remarks were delivered by ๐ ๐ฎโ๐ฎ๐บ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ ๐.๐. ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ, Campus Educational Consultant, who emphasized the importance of choosing friends wisely and surrounding oneself with people who bring positive influence and emotional support.
The Welcome Remarks, originally scheduled to be delivered by Dr. Medelyn Valiente, Guidance Counselor, were relayed through ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐ก. ๐ ๐ถ๐ด๐๐ฒ๐น, who extended Dr. Valienteโs warm message of encouragement and compassion to all attendees.
Although ๐๐๐๐. ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ ๐. ๐๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ-๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฝ๐ผ๐, Campus Administrator, was unable to attend, she sent her message of support, commending both OSAS and the BEEd Confederation for organizing a meaningful and timely initiative in support of studentsโ mental well-being.
๐ ๐ฟ. ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐น ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ, Guidance and Counseling Unit Coordinator, introduced the resource speaker, ๐๐ฟ. ๐ฉ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐. ๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐, President of the Philippine Guidance Association Nueva Ecija Chapter. ๐๐ฟ. ๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ delivered a compelling lecture on recognizing and addressing mental health concerns and emphasized the importance of awareness, empathy, and open communication in preventing su***de.
To help participants manage anxiety, ๐๐ฟ. ๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ also guided everyone through a three-minute breathing exercise, a simple yet effective technique that can be practiced during panic attacks or overwhelming moments.
The session concluded with an open forum, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts about mental health and self-care.
In his Closing Remarks, ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐ก. ๐ ๐ถ๐ด๐๐ฒ๐น highlighted the importance of compassion, understanding, and continued advocacy for mental health awareness among students and educators.
Adding a heartfelt touch, the BEEd Confederation Officers prepared a small initiative by distributing candies to attendees as a symbolic gesture representing kindness and the sweetness of support that everyone deserves.
The event was successfully facilitated by ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ, who served as Master of Ceremonies. The seminar stands as a meaningful collaboration reflecting the shared commitment to promoting mental health awareness and su***de prevention within the university community.
