TPC Conducts Successful Earthquake Simulation Drill in Coordination with Talibon MDRRMC and BFP
The TPC Crisis Management and Disaster Risk Management Team, in partnership with the Talibon Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) and Talibon Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), successfully carried out an earthquake simulation drill aimed at strengthening preparedness and emergency response within the institution.
The drill commenced with an alarm signaling the start of ground shaking, prompting participants to perform the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” maneuver before proceeding to evacuation areas. Personnel from the MDRRMC, led by Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Vladimir Avenido, RN, and BFP responders headed by SFO2 Philip Fuderanan, facilitated the smooth flow of the activity, particularly during the assessment and handling of simulated casualties. The TPC responder headed by the College Nurse Dianne Zen Arradaza,MAN,RN also facilitated the rescue activity together with the Crisis Management Team.
As part of the advanced rescue component, BFP operatives demonstrated rappelling and conducted a high-angle rescue by safely transporting a mock patient from the second floor to the ground using rope techniques. This demonstration highlighted the importance of skilled rescue operations during earthquake scenarios.
Following the simulation, representatives from both the MDRRMC and BFP conducted an evaluation of the activity. They commended the TPC Crisis Management and DRRM Team for their coordinated efforts, noting that the drill was impressively executed for a first-time simulation. They also encouraged the team to continue conducting regular drills to further refine response procedures and enhance overall disaster readiness.
The activity reaffirmed the collective commitment of TPC, MDRRMC, and BFP to fostering a culture of safety and preparedness—ensuring that the community is better equipped to respond effectively during real emergencies.
