Ayon sa PHIVOLCS, kung sakaling tumama ang malakas na lindol na 7.1 hanggang 7.2 magnitude sa West Valley Fault o Marikina Fault, maaaring maramdaman ito sa ilang bahagi ng Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, at Laguna.

📍 Ang fault line na ito ay dumadaan sa:
Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, Muntinlupa, at iba pang lungsod.
Tinatayang:

☠️ 30,000+ katao ang maaaring masawi
🏥 100,000+ ang maaaring masugatan

Upang mapabilis ang rescue at evacuation, hinati ng MMDA ang Metro Manila sa apat na quadrants:

🧭 East:
Pasig, Marikina
🧭 West:
Manila, Malabon, Navotas
🧭 South:

Why the Philippines Shakes: Living on the Ring of Fire

Living in the Philippines means living with the reality that the ground beneath us can move at any time. Our country is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, where two big tectonic plates, the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate, meet and push against each other. When they collide, earthquakes happen.

Just recently, a strong earthquake hit Cebu, and then another one struck Davao this morning. Seeing the news and the damage really breaks my heart. I can only imagine the fear and pain people felt during those moments. Some lost their homes, others lost people they love, and that’s something no one can ever prepare for.

We may not be able to stop these natural events, but we can do our part. We can stay alert, secure our things at home, and help spread awareness about safety. Most of all, we can be there for one another, because in times like this, kindness and unity matter more than anything.

Let’s pray for the families affected and for the souls of those who lost their lives. May God give them comfort and strength to rebuild and heal.
