DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF ST. TERESA OF AVILA

FACTS: On October 4,1582 at the age of 67 Sta. Teresa de Avila died.

It was the evening of October 4. The next day, as it happened, the Gregorian calendar came into use. The readjustment made it necessary to drop ten days, so that October 5 was counted as October 15, and this latter date became Teresa's feast day.

St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226) was a rich Italian’s son who led a carefree life. As a soldier, he was taken prisoner by enemies for a year. After his release, he heard Jesus calling him to rebuild God’s House. St. Francis sold everything and went around preaching about Jesus. He had a group of followers whom became the Franciscans. St. Francis loved all of God’s creation. He even preached to the birds! He is the patron saint of animals. His feast day is on 4 October.

October 3
Feast of Angel of Peace

Most Holy Trinity—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.
