The Mountain That Watches Over Talalora

This mountain easily catches your attention when you’re in the town of Talalora, Samar. I first noticed it during our very first visit there last year. Although it looks close to Talalora, this mountain is actually part of Daram Island.

What makes it unique is its wide rolling landscape covered mostly with cogon grass, with very few trees growing on it. From a distance, it has a very distinct appearance that reminded me of the summit of Mount Pulag in Luzon. It may not have the famous sea of clouds, but what makes this place special is the literal ocean surrounding it.

From the top, you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful 360-degree view, especially overlooking the town of Talalora. The scenery becomes even more cinematic during golden hour. You will truly fall in love with the view.

The mountain is located above Barangay Lucob-lucob in Daram Island, just around three minutes by boat from Talalora.

Behind the mountain are the communities of Iquiran and Cansaganay. From the summit, the islands of Bacsal and Agotay can also be seen from afar, islands that we were also able to visit during that adventure. The view from the top truly gives you a breathtaking perspective of the beauty surrounding Daram Island.
