“MAKULIMLIM NA PANAHON, MADILIM DIN ANG ATING DEMOKRASYA”

“Gaya ng makulimlim na panahon, madilim din ang ating demokrasya. Binalewala ng Supreme Court ang konstitusyon, binalewala ang sarili nilang mga desisyon. Binalewala ang separation of powers, para lang protektahan ang bise president. Ni-reduce ng Supreme Court ang kanyang sarili bilang supreme coddler of the Philippines.

The dismissal of the impeachment sets a dangerous precedent, lahat ng tiwalang pulitiko pwedeng magtago sa likod ng Supreme Court. At takas an ang pananagutan sa sambayanan. A disastrous dau for Philippine democracy.”

IRESPETO ANG KORTE APAN NAG-ANDAM OG MOTION

Gibutyag ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez nga irespeto matud pa nila ang desisyon sa Supreme Court kalabot sa pagdeklarang unconstitutional ang impeachment batok ni Vice President Sara Duterte apan giklaro niining naga-andam sila og motion for reconsideration.

Sumala pa niini “We shall respect the decision of the Court, but we will also exhaust our remedies. We are preparing a motion for reconsideration.”

Mihatag usab sa iyang komento si Sen. Migz Zubiri kalabot sa desisyon sa Korte Suprema human nilang gideklarang unconstitutional ang impeachment batok ni VP Sara Duterte.

Sumala pa ni Zubiri,
“Sa mga gusto pang ituloy ang impeachment proceedings sa Senado, ito ang sagot ko sa inyo..
We may be courting a contempt order from the Supreme Court and a possible constitutional crisis, not to mention a dangerous precedent, should we proceed with the impeachment trial in defiance of a unanimous en banc ruling of the High Court.
Ignoring the SC decision is tantamount to eroding the very principle of ‘judicial review’ established in Angara v. Electoral Commission, 63 Phil. 139 (1936), and in turn, endangers the delicate system of checks and balances that is foundational to our democracy. Whether we agree with the decision or not, the Supreme Court remains as the final arbiter of constitutional issues—lest we destabilize the very framework of government.
Respect and honor the Supreme Court of the Republic. PERIOD.”

Nangayo og pasaylo si Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima sa Supreme Court human niya kini tawgon nga “ex parte” o desisyong base lang sa usa ka panig. Kini may kalabotan sa desisyon sa Korte Suprema nga ideklarang unconstitutional ang impeachment batok ni VP Sara Duterte.

Matod pa ni de Lima: "That portion of my statement saying the House was not given an opportunity to comment on the impeachment petitions was grossly ill-advised as it was based on patently wrong information. There is no excuse for this mistake and I bear full responsibility for the same."
