LIGHTHOUSE TANZA (MSSU NCR-CL)
Once standing steadfast on the waters of Rosario, Cavite, the San Nicholas Shoal Lighthouse served as a tertiary aid to navigation since its construction in 1997āits 30-foot concrete tower and red flashing beacon guiding mariners across a 7-nautical-mile range. In recent years, the site became a focal point of major reclamation activities, including the 265-hectare Harbor City Project, which eventually placed the lighthouse within a demarcated project exclusion zone. With sand extraction transforming the once-shallow shoal into deep water, its role in that location came to an end.
In 2023, the structure found a new purpose and a new homeārelocated to the coastline near Villa Excellance, Tanza, Cavite (14°22'56"N, 120°49'17"E) and renamed Lighthouse Tanza. Now classified as a secondary aid to navigation, this 18-meter concrete tower stands proudly with its distinctive double red flash every 10 seconds. Officially illuminated during a lighting ceremony on 15 May 2025, it continues the legacy of its predecessorāshining across the waters, guiding mariners, and marking a new chapter in Caviteās maritime story.
