AFPPKOC concludes training for UN Engagement Platoon

The Peacekeeping Operations School (PKOS) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center has concluded the United Nations Engagement Platoon (UNEP) Training Class 01-2025 in a simple yet meaningful closing ceremony in the morning of August 14, 2025. Commodore Zosimo M. Bolaños Jr., the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, J1 served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

The UNEP is a specialized capability in the UN peacekeeping missions tasked with building and maintaining meaningful relationships with local communities in mission areas. It serves as the bridge between peacekeepers and the population, ensuring that the mission remains connected, trusted, and responsive to the needs of the people it serves.

In UN operations, the Engagement Platoon plays critical functions such as community engagement, confidence-building, conflict prevention, information dissemination and coordination and support. The course was participated by AFP officers and enlisted personnel preparing for deployment to UN missions.

This historic training was conducted in partnership with the Indonesian National Defense Forces Peacekeeping Operations Center (Pusat Misi Pemeliharaan Perdamaian Tentara Nasional Indonesia), with Lt. Col. Cahyo Triyogo Widhi Nugroho who served as the foreign subject matter expert (SME).

The successful conduct of UNEP Training reflects the AFPPKOC's continuing commitment to developing mission-ready, culturally sensitive, and highly skilled peacekeepers. With the support of regional partners like Indonesia, the Philippines stands ready to contribute capable personnel to United Nations missions serving as bridges of trust, voices for peace, and champions of understanding in conflict-affected areas around the world.

AFPPKOC Recognizes Transformation Roadmap Champions

The Armed Forces of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC), through its incentivization program, honored AFP Transformation Roadmap (AFPTR) champions in a simple yet meaningful ceremony held at the Admin Lobby in the afternoon of August 11, 2025.

Colonel Warlito A. Limet PA, Commanding Officer, AFPPKOC awarded certificates of recognition and modest cash incentives to awardees in various categories for their exemplary performance and contributions to the attainment of the AFPPKOC Transformation Roadmap (AFPPKOC TR).

The awardees were: Administrative Branch for office category; Peacekeeping Operations School for the unit category; Lt. Col. Ronnie O Siapno PAF for the officer category; TSg Michael Allan B. Corpuz PA for Senior Enlisted Personnel; AW2C Shaira N. Agravio PAF for Junior Enlisted Personnel; and Ms. Ma. Reina Doris N. Manansala for Civilian Human Resources.

Likewise, the Commander donned the unit blue beret on SSg Glenn D. Larona and Sgt Jomar J Nakpil, both newly assigned personnel of the Center. In addition, the birthday celebrants for the month of August were recognized and given a simple token.

The AFPPPKOC Transformation Roadmap Incentivization Program highlights the Center’s commitment to institutional excellence and professionalism, in alignment with the AFPTR. This gesture is part of the Center’s commitment to cultivating a positive, inclusive, and morale-boosting environment, where individual contributions and personal milestones are genuinely appreciated.

In his remarks, Col. Limet congratulated the awardees and encouraged all personnel to strive for excellence. “I challenge everyone to give their best and earn a place in the next selection. This incentivization program is a call to set standards, strive for excellence, and deliver outstanding results in our respective duties. Let us continue to align our personal and professional goals with our shared commitment to genuine transformation.” Col. Limet said.

AFPPKOC joins global observance of International Humanitarian Law month

Camp O’Donnell – The Armed Forces of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC) joined the observance of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) month in a flag-raising ceremony in the morning of August 4, 2025.

This year’s theme: “Galvanizing Commitment to International Humanitarian Law: Challenges and Opportunities in the Asia Pacific Region.” As the AFP’s premier institution for peacekeeping operations, AFPPKOC continues to instil in its peacekeepers the unwavering commitment to uphold, promote, and support International Humanitarian Law wherever duty calls them in every land they serve.

Colonel Louie DS Villanueva, Executive Officer of the Center, led the oath-taking ceremony for the IHL commitment and delivered the official message of the Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines.

AFPPKOC Earns Seal of Excellence in 2nd AFPTRIP Recertification

Quezon City- The Armed Forces of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC), Home of the Peacekeepers, has once again proven its steadfast commitment to excellence, governance, and institutional reform as it earned its 2nd Recertified Status under the AFP Transformation Roadmap Institutionalization Pathway (AFPTRIP) during the flag raising ceremony on August 4, 2025.

With an outstanding 98.23% rating, the Seal of Excellence and certificate were formally received by Colonel Warlito A. Limet, Commanding Officer, AFPPKOC during the flag-raising ceremony at GHQ Canopy.

General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff, AFP, lauded the Center’s exemplary performance, calling it a clear testament to its transformative leadership and culture of good governance.

In his remarks, the CSAFP honored the Filipino peacekeepers, acknowledging their excellence and distinction as among the United Nations' finest in global peacekeeping operations—bringing honor and pride to the Philippines on the international stage.

“This is not just a recognition, it is a breakthrough that sets the standard across the AFP,” Gen. Brawner affirmed.

He also honored Filipino peacekeepers for their excellence and global distinction, proudly representing the Philippines in international peacekeeping missions.

This milestone underscores AFPPKOC’s enduring pursuit of excellence and stands as a beacon for other AFP units committed to institutional transformation and world-class service.

AFPPKOC successfully hurdles GAD Onsite Audit

The Armed Forces of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC) under the able leadership of Colonel Warlito A. Limet ARM (GSC) PA successfully passed the Gender and Development (GAD) onsite audit and inspection conducted on July 23-24, 2025 by the AFP Gender and Development Office.

The GAD audit is a yearly activity conducted purposely to assess the organization's compliance with policies promoting gender equality, gender responsiveness, and the creation of a safe and inclusive environment for all personnel and trainees. In her talk with the personnel during the event, Captain Venus G. Gualdaquever PN (GSC), the Chief, AFPGADO took the opportunity to encourage all personnel to be vigilant and courageous in addressing any sexual misconduct or violations among peers.

Notably, the AFPPKOC was lauded on its efforts of providing a gender-responsive working environment and suitable training facilities for its personnel and students.

As a GAD-compliant and “GADvocate” organization, the Center remains committed to upholding the principles set forth by the United Nations and relevant laws on gender equality and advocacy.

Another UN specialized training concludes at AFPPKOC in
collaboration with ADF POTC

The Armed Forces of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center successfully concluded the UN Military Peacekeeping Intelligence (UNMPKI) Course Cl-01-2025 held at the Batomalaque Hall, Peacekeeping Operations School.

The graduation ceremony took place on 24 July 2025, with Brigadier General Ismael Mandanas Jr., Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (AJ3), serving as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

The UN Military Peacekeeping Intelligence is designed to prepare potential staff for intelligence functions with a UN Force or Sector Headquarters, or within a Joint Mission Analysis Center (JMAC) in a UN peacekeeping mission.

The two-week course employed diverse learning modalities, delivered by subject matter experts from AFPPKOC and the Australian Defense Force Peace Operations Training Centre (ADF POTC), led by Lieutenant Colonel Michael Webbe, the Commanding Officer of POTC.

In his message, Brigadier General Mandanas Jr. emphasized the vital role of intelligence in peacekeeping operations. He said that, “Intelligence is the cornerstone of successful peacekeeping missions. It provides the critical information needed to assess risks, understand the complexities of the operational environment, and make informed decisions that ensure the safety of our personnel and the success of the mission. In UN mission areas, where the landscape is often unpredictable and multifaceted, the ability to gather, analyze, and act upon accurate intelligence is indispensable. It enables peacekeepers to anticipate potential threats, coordinate effectively with partner agencies, and contribute to a stable and secure environment for the local communities.”

“As we continue to develop our capabilities, let us recognize that intelligence is not just a tool but a strategic asset that underpins our commitment to peace and security worldwide,” he added.

The UNMPKI course marks a significant step in enhancing the AFP's capabilities in international peacekeeping missions, fostering stronger collaboration with allied forces, and promoting peace and stability worldwide.

The event was highlighted by the recognition of personnel due for reassignment to other units, namely PO2 Oliver C Francisco PN and SSg Ian D Fernandez PA. They were awarded a Plaque of Recognition for their invaluable services to the Center. Further, Colonel Limet made a point to celebrate the birthdays of personnel born in the month of July, exemplifying that every member of our team is valued and appreciated.

Army Officer serves as instructor in UN Training in Switzerland

Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – Another officer from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC) brought honor and pride to the country as Guest Instructor in the just concluded Swiss United Nations Military Observer Course (SUNMOC) 2025 held at Training Centre Swiss International (TC SWISSINT) on June 9 to July 4, 2025.

Maj Ercilla, a highly decorated officer renowned for his expertise and leadership, made a significant impact on the course. His role as a Guest Instructor not only enriched the participants with his extensive experience and knowledge but also inspired them with his leadership as a former Military Observer in the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).

The Swiss United Nations Military Observer Course is a rigorous program aimed at enhancing the global peacekeeping skills and competencies of military personnel deployed as UN peacekeepers. This intensive course brought together 54 participants from 17 different countries, serving as a significant platform for Major Ercilla to share his expertise and contribute meaningfully to international peacekeeping efforts.

The Armed Forces Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center, once again, demonstrates its unwavering dedication to global peacekeeping efforts. The successful participation of Maj Ercilla in SUNMOC 2025 is a testament to the AFPPKOC's steadfast commitment to the United Nations and its international partners.

The organization believes that by actively engaging in such international collaborations, it can enhance the capabilities of its forces and contribute to the collective knowledge and expertise of the global peacekeeping community. AFPPKOC bolsters women participation in UN Training

Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac- The Armed Forced of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC) sent two (2) Officers and one (1) Enlisted Personnel to the Uniformed Women Peacekeepers' Training (UWPT) held at Republic of Korea Peacekeeping Operations Center, Korean National Defense University, Nonsan, South Korea from 16 to 27 June 2025.

The UWPT aims to prepare selected women military officers for deployment to UN missions, in line with increasing the full, equal, and meaningful participation of women in UN Peacekeeping Operations. It was participated by 24 students and 5 instructors from 14 different countries.

Notably, Ltc Amabelle DC Campos, the Chief of the Center’s Mission Support Office was one of the invited guest instructor, while Maj Iris P Sideño and Sgt Portia Menelia G Paneda participated as students. They actively engaged and contributed to the learnings throughout the course of the training.

The AFPPKOC's participation in this training event marks another milestone that underscores its unwavering commitment to the United Nations' Women, Peace, and Security agenda and gender equality. This commitment is a core part of our values and guides our actions in all our endeavors.

WATCH || The AFP Peacekeeping Operations Center conducted the United Nations Civil-Military Coordination Course (UNCIMIC) Class 15 - 2025 at the Peacekeeping Operations School (PKOS) on June 16-27, 2025.

The 2-week course was participated by 23 officers from the Philippine Army, 3 from the Philippine Air Force; and 1 from the Technical and Administrative Service.

The course was designed to adequately prepare AFP officers for their roles as Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) officers in United Nations peacekeeping missions. Further, it aimed to equip them with critical skills needed to support the military component of UN operations, perform their duties professionally, and embody the core values and competencies upheld by the United Nations.
