Hase-dera is a peaceful temple in Kamakura known for its beautiful gardens and calm atmosphere. It’s famous for the tall statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, which many people visit for blessings and comfort.

The temple sits on a hillside, so you get a nice view of Kamakura and the ocean. The paths are lined with flowers, small statues, and quiet spots where you can rest. There’s also a cave with small carved statues inside, which adds to the temple’s charm.

It’s a place where people go to relax, pray, or simply enjoy the scenery. Simple, calming, and very beautiful.

Kamakura Station is the main gateway to one of Japan’s most charming coastal towns. It opened in the late 1800s, so it has that classic, slightly old-fashioned look that fits the atmosphere of Kamakura. The station sits on the JR Yokosuka Line and the Enoden Line, which means you can easily hop between the modern trains and the small nostalgic tram that runs along the coast.

The moment you step out, the vibe feels different from busy city stations. There’s a relaxed flow of people, a mix of locals, students in uniforms, and visitors heading toward temples, shrines, and the famous Great Buddha. Around the station, you’ll find small cafés, local snack shops, and stores selling traditional sweets and souvenirs.

It’s also one of the easiest stations to navigate if you’re exploring. One direction takes you to Komachi Street, a lively strip filled with food stalls and boutiques. The other direction leads toward the beach and the Enoden platform, where the little green-and-cream train feels like a trip back in time.

Kamakura Station isn’t huge or flashy, but that’s what makes it special. It sets the tone for the whole town—quiet, cultural, and a nice break from the rush of Tokyo.

Skyscraper District (Nishi-Shinjuku): Located west of the station, this area is home to some of Tokyo's tallest buildings, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, which has free observation decks.
