The event opened with a prayer led by Sir Efren C. Manalang, followed by welcoming remarks delivered by Maโam Mercy B. Briones. Both underscored the significance of journalism in shaping informed communities, and emphasized the role of students in adapting to the fast-changing media landscape.
The competition featured various categories in English and Filipino medium, including news writing, editorial writing, feature writing, copyreading, editorial cartooning, photojournalism, radio scriptwriting, and broadcasting.
