LOOK: The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has issued a memorandum addressed to Tarlac City Vice Mayor KT Angeles-Go, clarifying the agencyβs position regarding the recent Commission on Elections (COMELEC) decision disqualifying Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap.
In the letter dated November 4, 2025, the DILG cited the COMELEC En Banc Resolution promulgated on October 22, 2025, which declared the decision disqualifying Mayor Yap as final and executory. The DILG emphasized that the ruling created a permanent vacancy in the Office of the City Mayor.
The DILG also requested Vice Mayor KT to submit all relevant documents pertaining to her assumption as City Mayor within twenty-four (24) hours upon receipt of the communication for documentation and record purposes.
Meanwhile, the DILG memorandum is not the final verdict on the case, it is an implementation order based on the COMELECβs current final decision. The Yap campβs move to seek a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) from the Supreme Court is still valid, but unless and until the TRO is granted, the DILG and local government must follow the COMELEC ruling. | πΈ: Supporters of KT Angeles/Facebook,
