Tarlac Forum earns SEC award

Tarlac City — Local news outfit The Tarlac Forum has been chosen by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)–Tarlac Extension Office to receive a Plaque of Recognition for its role as an active media partner in promoting financial literacy and investor education.

In a letter to publisher Ray Constantine U. Abagat, SEC–Tarlac Director Atty. Richard R. Laus said the paper was nominated for its “valuable contributions” in disseminating SEC news and updates through broadcast, print, and online platforms — efforts that have helped advance the agency’s advocacy and public service goals.

The award will be given between July 22 and 25 at the SEC–Tarlac office, located on the 2nd Floor of the Legislative Building, Tarlac City Hall, Ligtasan, Tarlac City.

The SEC, which marked its 88th anniversary last year, serves as the country’s primary regulatory agency for the corporate and capital markets, supervising partnerships, corporations, and associations, and enforcing laws to protect investors from scams.

Director Laus extended his gratitude to The Tarlac Forum for its continued support of the Commission’s campaigns, saying its work has been key in ensuring that timely and accurate investor-related information reaches the public.

New LMP Tarlac leaders

Tarlac City – Mayor Doña Cresencia R. Tesoro of San Manuel has officially assumed the presidency of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) – Tarlac Chapter, pledging to continue strong, united, and progressive leadership for all towns in the province.

The chapter’s new officers were elected on August 8, 2025, during a gathering at Fortune Restaurant in Tarlac City, witnessed by mayors from across the province, provincial leaders, and national government representatives.

Governor Christian Tell A. Yap administered the oath of office, while outgoing president and current Vice Governor Estelita M. Aquino personally turned over official documents to Mayor Tesoro. "We have passed the leadership of the league to Mayor Donya Tesoro. Let us keep strengthening our cooperation among all municipalities for the progress of Tarlac," Aquino said.

Other elected officers are Mayor Atty. Roseller B. Rodriguez of Capas as vice president, Mayor Nathaniel L. Tan of Santa Ignacia as secretary, Mayor Kathleen C. Roxas of Paniqui as treasurer, Mayor Rex C. Villa Agustin of Victoria as auditor, Mayor Atty. John Paul M. Balmores of Pura as public relations officer for the 1st District, Mayor Romeo G. Capitulo of San Jose as PRO for the 2nd District, and Mayor Venustiano D. Jordan of La Paz as PRO for the 3rd District.

Board of Directors: Mayor Gian Pierre O. De Dios (Anao), Mayor Jose M. Salting, Jr. (Bamban), Mayor Joyce B. Agustin (Camiling), Mayor Iluminado E. Pobre, Jr. (Mayantoc), Mayor Ramon Benito M. Aquino (Moncada), Mayor Celso L. Banag (Ramos), and Mayor Roseller M. Toledo (San Clemente).

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Tarlac, led by Provincial Director Martin Porres B. Moral, CESO V, observed the election to ensure compliance with set procedures.

The LMP – Tarlac Chapter vowed to serve as a model of integrity, compassion, and efficient governance for the advancement of all municipalities in the province.
