This morning, I found myself thinking about how easily I fill every quiet moment with something else.
If there is a few minutes of silence, I reach for my phone. If there is a pause in my day, I immediately look for another task. Somewhere along the way, I realized that being busy has become so normal that I sometimes forget how to simply be still before God.
Then my thoughts went to Psalm 46:10:
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (KJV)
I have often read that verse as a command to slow down, but today it reminded me of something deeper. Before God asks me to do anything, He invites me to remember who He is.
He is still God when my plans change.
He is still God when my prayers seem unanswered.
He is still God when my heart feels weary.
And He is still God when I cannot see what He is doing.
Maybe stillness is not about having a quiet schedule. Maybe it is about having a heart that rests in the Lord, even when life is noisy.
I am still learning that kind of rest.
As this week comes to an end and another one is about to begin, I want to carry this reminder with me: I do not have to carry everything. The God who holds the universe is already holding me.
Lord, teach my heart to be still. Help me trust You more than my own plans, and remind me that Your presence is the safest place I could ever rest.
