As a nutritionist and lecturer, he observed the custom habits of the traditional society in Wamena, Timika and the villages around the Jayawijaya mountain area who consume the red fruit. He found that the local people have bigger rarely figure and high stamina.
Trough his research Mr.Made discovered that the form of essence the red fruit contains high potential antioxidant as an active substances to prevent many illnesses, anti virus compounds and also complex vitamins and mineral. It contains carotene, beta carotene, tocopherol and other substances that can increase endurance of a body, suach as oleicacid, likoleic acid, omega 3 and omega 9.
Red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam) generally grows in Papua, especially on the mountain area, such as on the areas along mountainside of Jayawijaya. According to Hynman (1984), this plant comprises of 12 cultivars and has a wide distribution up to 2300 asl, stretching from Baliem valley in Wamena, the bird head region and other remote areas in Papua (Arfak, Jayapura, and Bintang mountains).
The plant is actually still in the family of pandanus, with the scientific name of Pandanus Conoideus. The tree can grow up to 5 branches, with 15 meters high. The leafs are similar to ribbons, but have small thorns on the edge parts. The roots are hanging in the air with the height of 1 meter from the base trunk. The fruit has a long ellipse form or sometimes a bit square, with 30-120 cm length and 10-25 cm wide. Usually the color is red, brownish red, or sometimes yellow. The skin, however, is similar with the skin of jackfruit.

Traditionally, it has been long ago since the Papua people started to consume the Red Fruit of their daily menus. People living in inner part of Papua, particularly those in Jayawijaya mountains, have stronger body posture, stronger stamina and have been rarely suffered from any diseases. Among people living in Jayawijaya mountains and around, the Red Fruit has been since long ago used to relieve tapeworm disease,blindness, and dermatitis.
Our aim came to Papua was to make photo reportage about red fruit and how local people use it every day.
