Faith and giving highlight school celebration

VES marked a meaningful year-end celebration on December 15, 2025, through two significant events held in one gathering: the Year-End Holy Mass and the birthday celebration of Sir Frederico Antonio B. Dumlao, school head, highlighted by a feeding program for all pupils.

The Holy Mass was presided over by Msgr. Samuela Baruela, bringing together teachers, pupils, and parents in prayer and thanksgiving as the year comes to a close. In his homily, Msgr. Baruela reminded everyone of the true essence of the season, emphasizing that “Christmas is about loving. Christmas is the time of giving,” a message that resonated deeply with the entire school community.

In the afternoon, the celebration continued with a simple yet heartfelt birthday observance for the School Head, expressed through a feeding activity that benefited all pupils. Instead of a traditional party, the birthday was shared as an act of generosity, reinforcing the values highlighted in the homily.

The activity reflected the school’s commitment to compassion, service, and unity, making the celebration not only joyful but also meaningful. The combined events served as a fitting reminder that faith, love, and giving remain at the heart of the school’s mission, especially during the Christmas season.

VES Gears Up for Safety During 4th Quarter NSED 2025

November 6, 2025 – Velasco Elementary School once again proved its commitment to disaster preparedness as it took part in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today. The school community—learners, teachers, and staff—actively participated in the safety exercise designed to strengthen readiness in times of emergencies.

At exactly 9:00 a.m., the alarm rang, prompting everyone to “Duck, Cover, and Hold” before proceeding to the school’s designated evacuation area. The drill highlighted the importance of quick response, presence of mind, and teamwork during an earthquake.

Through continuous participation in NSED, Velasco Elementary School reinforces its vision of a safe, informed, and resilient school community.
