VES Grade 6 Pupils Confirmed in Faith

A meaningful milestone in the faith journey of Velasco Elementary School’s Grade 6 pupils took place today as they received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church. Surrounded by their parents and god-parents, the young confirmands reaffirmed their commitment to their faith, embracing the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Officiated by Most Reverend Leopoldo Juacian, SVD, DD and Monsignor Samuel Baruela, the ceremony was a solemn yet joyful occasion, marking the pupils’ deeper connection to the Church.

As they step forward with renewed faith, they are encouraged to be active members of their parish and role models of Christian values in their community.

1st Quarter NSED conducted at VES

Velasco Elementary School successfully conducted its First Quarter National Simulteneous Earthquake Drill to ensure the safety and preparedness of both pupils and staff. The drill aimed to familiarize everyone with the proper procedures during an earthquake. Pupils and teachers practiced "Drop, Cover, and Hold" technique, followed by a swift evacuation to designated safe zones. Mrs. Grace B. Polis, School DRRM Coordinator, emphasized the importance of being prepared for natural disasters, reinforcing the need for awareness and action in emergency situations. The exercise was deemed a success, with all participants demonstrating quick and orderly responses, further strengthening the school's commitment to safety and disaster preparedness.

VES Honors Stakeholders and Teachers in STAR Ceremony 2025

Velasco Elementary School celebrated its Stakeholders Teachers Awards & Recognition (STAR) Ceremony 2025 on May 8, 2025, highlighting the vital role of stakeholders and educators in the school's success. The event also served as the SMEA, Third Quarter Culminating Program, and Card Day, reinforcing the school's commitment to collaboration and excellence.

Teachers took center stage during the School Monitoring, Evaluation, and Adjustment (SMEA) Presentation, where they shared insights on the school's progress and academic achievements.

A key highlight was the Distribution of Certificates to Stakeholders, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the school’s programs and initiatives. The PRAISE Awards honored outstanding teachers and Loyalty Service Awards were presented to educators who dedicated years of service to the DepEd. This year’s awardees included: Mam Jeneva May R. Tagura – 5 Years, Mam Lourdes B. Tenebro, Mam Yolanda P. Francisco, and Felix B. Tagura – 10 Years.

VES Kicks Off Women's Month Celebration

Velasco Elementary School held a simple yet meaningful kick-off program for the Women's Month Celebration yesterday. Spearheaded by Ma’am Laurie Ann B. Guidang, the Gender and Development (GAD) Coordinator, the event highlighted the theme "Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas."

In her message, Ma’am Guidang emphasized the significance of the theme, underscoring the crucial role of women in shaping a progressive nation. She also distributed pamphlets on women's rights to raise awareness among attendees.

Sir Frederico Antonio B. Dumlao delivered a brief but inspiring message, reinforcing the importance of gender equality and empowerment. March 6, 2025 – Velasco Elementary School(VES) community gathered today to celebrate Holy Eucharist, presided by Msgr. Samuel T. Baruela. The event, filled with reverence and prayer, centered around the sacred sacrament of the Eucharist, symbolizing unity and faith. Msgr. 🥈In Women's Artistic Gymnastics (Cluster 2), Lea Jane A. Alvarez won silver in Balance Beam (CARAA qualifier) and bronze in Individual All-Around.

🥇🥇Princess Mariel Regulacion dominated the Chess Girls Individual and Team Events, clinching gold and earning a CARAA slot under Coach Rocel T. Tauro.

Sir Lazaro met with the school administration and faculty to discuss the school’s progress and address challenges faced by the institution and gave technical assistance.

The visit also included a tour of the classrooms, where PSDS Lazaro observed teaching practices and engaged with pupils, inspiring them to strive for academic excellence.

NGCP Donates School Supplies to VES Pupils

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) extended its support to education by donating school supplies to 110 pupils of Velasco Elementary School. The Kindergarten to Grade 3 pupils recipient received a bag containing ten notebooks, three pencils, and a set of crayons.

The distribution was made possible through the INNAMMUYO PROGRAM by the Social Mobolization and Networking Section of SDO-Abra headed by Ma’am Bless Maricar B. Ramos. The donation aims to assist pupils in their educational journey by providing them with essential learning materials.

The school community expressed its heartfelt gratitude to NGCP and Ma’am Ramos for their generosity and commitment to supporting young learners. This initiative underscores the importance of collaboration in fostering quality education.
