FEEDING PROGRAM FOR HEALTHY LEARNERS!

A hearty meal and brighter smiles filled the day as District Nurse Rober Pietro Cardenas led a Feeding Program for Kinder to Grade 6 pupils of Velasco Elementary School. The initiative aimed to promote good nutrition and support the learners’ overall health and well-being. VESians happily shared in a healthy and delicious meal that nourished both body and spirit.

The school extends its warmest thanks to all generous sponsors and partners who made this meaningful activity possible, most especially to Sir Cardernas. Your support truly helps nurture strong, healthy, and happy learners ready to face each school day with energy and enthusiasm!

VES scouts showcase skills and camaraderie in the Joint School Encampment 2025

Velasco Elementary School, Tayum, Abra — The spirit of teamwork, leadership, and adventure came alive as 26 Girl Scouts and 28 Boy Scouts of Velasco Elementary School participated in the Joint School Encampment 2025 held from October 17, 6:00 PM to October 19, 12:00 PM at the school grounds.

The three-day camp aimed to strengthen the scouts’ self-reliance, discipline, and cooperation through various scouting activities. The camp opened with the setting up of tents and preparation of their own meals, fostering teamwork and responsibility among campers.

Throughout the encampment, scouts participated in discussions on the Patrol System, Smartness and Good Order, and the Flag Code, deepening their understanding of scouting principles and respect for the national symbols.

Exciting scouting games and skill trainings such as knot tying, bandaging, and trail signs tested their creativity, agility, and problem-solving skills. The highlight of the event was the Campfire Night, where each patrol presented their call, yell, song, and cultural performances, igniting unity and joyful camaraderie.

On the last day, the scouts took part in the obstacle course and sense game, showcasing their endurance, alertness, and teamwork.

The Joint School Encampment 2025 truly embodied the scouting spirit — “Be Prepared” — as young scouts demonstrated leadership, cooperation, and the joy of learning by doing.

VES Holds Joint BSP and GSP Investiture Ceremony

Young scouts officially took their oath of service and loyalty during the Joint Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Investiture Ceremony held on October 17, 2025 at the school grounds.

The event marked the formal admission of KID, KAB, Twinklers, STAR, Boy, and Girl Scouts into the scouting movement. Highlights included the lighting of the candles representing the Scout Laws and the donning of neckerchiefs by the scouts’ godparents.

Mr. Frederico Antonio B. Dumlao, Head Teacher III, gave the closing remarks and declared the start of the School-Based Encampment 2025.

The ceremony concluded with the Scout Benediction, symbolizing the unity, dedication, and true spirit of scouting among the youth of VES.

Tiny teeth, mighty smiles—Tayumenian shines!

Our Kindergarten and Grade 1 pupils were delighted to receive a dental check-up and fluoride gel application from Dr. Marc Prix Ardaniel Tabaniag and the Tayum RHU dental team. This activity aimed to strengthen the learners’ awareness of proper oral hygiene and keep their teeth healthy and strong. The dentists carefully checked each child’s teeth, shared proper brushing techniques, and applied fluoride for extra protection. The pupils enthusiastically joined in and proudly displayed their bright smiles. The school sincerely thanks the Tayum RHU dental team, as well as the parents and teachers, for their continued support in promoting our learners’ health and well-being.

Celebrating Achievement and Scouting Spirit! Joint BSP & GSP School Camporal Awarding Highlights

The distribution of certificates and awards marked the closing highlight of the Joint BSP and GSP School Camporal held on October 19, 2025 at Velasco Elementary School. Certificates of participation were given to all scouts who actively joined the camp activities, while special awards recognized exemplary performances in various competitions such as knot-tying, camp management, first aid, and scouting song and yell. Outstanding patrols and individual scouts were commended for their leadership, teamwork, and discipline. The awarding ceremony truly reflected the spirit of scouting—unity, service, and camaraderie among the youth.

Mud, Sweat, and Scout Spirit!
As part of the Joint Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Encampment on October 19, Velasco Elementary School held an exciting Obstacle Course Challenge that tested the strength and agility of young scouts. With determination and enthusiasm, participants crawled, and navigated their way through the muddy obstacle. The activity not only brought fun and excitement but also helped build confidence, cooperation, and the true spirit of scouting. Regional Team visits VES for Monitoring and Evaluation

The Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) of the Regional Office conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) visit at Velasco Elementary School to assess the implementation of various learning programs such as Aral Program, Special Needs Education (SNED), Kindergarten, and Learning Resources.

The regional team was composed of Mr. Alfredo B. Lanas, Mr. Benjamin M. Dio-al, Ms. Dema Tarnate, and Mr. Noven Mente. They were accompanied by personnel from the Schools Division Office (SDO), including Mrs. Marlene C. Abaoag, Education Program Supervisor in Araling Panlipunan, and Mrs. Ailyn B. Taberdo, Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS).

During the visit, the team conducted interview and interacted with teachers to ensure the effective delivery of quality education. They also reviewed the school’s best practices and provided technical assistance for continuous improvement.

The activity aimed to strengthen the implementation of key DepEd programs and to ensure that learning interventions address the needs of all learners, including those under the ARAL and SNED initiatives.

The visit concluded with a feedback session, where the regional and division monitors commended the school’s efforts and dedication in sustaining learner-centered teaching practices.

🏆 VES Wildcats roar to 1st Runner-Up finish in Tayum District Athletic Meet 2025

The Velasco Elementary School Wildcats proved their strength and sportsmanship as they emerged Overall First Runner-Up in the Tayum District Athletic Meet 2025 held at Tayum Central School on October 10–11, 2025.

With an impressive display of skill, teamwork, and determination, the Wildcats brought home a total of 51 medals — 20 gold, 15 silver, and 16 bronze — across various sporting events. Each athlete’s dedication and hard work contributed to the team’s remarkable success.

The two-day event gathered athletes from different schools in the district, all showcasing their best performances in pursuit of athletic excellence. Despite tough competition, the VES Wildcats stood out for their discipline, sportsmanship, and fighting spirit, earning the respect of fellow competitors and spectators alike.

School officials, coaches, and supporters expressed pride in the athletes’ outstanding achievement, commending their perseverance during training and competition. The VES Wildcats’ success serves as an inspiration for the entire school community to continue striving for excellence in both academics and sports.
