A bold statement of Broadcast journalist
KAREN DAVILA:

‘OUR LAWMAKERS ARE THE LAW BREAKERS’

Broadcast journalist Karen Davila has issued a bold statement against some lawmakers who allegedly do not follow the laws they themselves made.

In her post on X, Davila said that there are officials who allegedly do not understand the existing laws and even end up violating them.

“This is the problem of many lawmakers. They do not know the law. Our lawmakers are the law breakers,” Davila said.

She added that from the Safe Spaces Act to the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, there are officials who allegedly do not follow these very laws.

The statement came after she criticized B**g Suntay’s comments allegedly related to actress Anne Curtis, which she called insulting and misogynistic.

Did you know that Lovella Orbe Maguad, mother of the murdered Maguad siblings, said that she just found out that Atty. Conti is a human rights lawyer who goes as far as The Hague to fight for cases?

That's when she said her heart ached even more.

⚖️She remembered how they had asked to speak to the Commission on Human Rights. They were granted permission and spoke with the DSWD and DOJ.

In front of the officials, she was honest.

She said that from when she was young until she is 48 now, she thought that human rights were only for criminals and opponents of the government. That's what she always heard back then.

But she was corrected.
She said that human rights are for everyone.

They had a lot of discussions.

There was even a recording of the conversation.

But after that, nothing clear happened.

No action.
No help was felt for their children.

While there was crime almost every day.
A child was r***d and killed.
Someone was beheaded and thrown away.
A woman and a grandmother were killed.

And this is where he was hurt the most.

Now, he says, the parents of the addicts can afford to go to The Hague — including Atty. Conti.

“Wow,” he says.
“Yes, I envy my children.”

He says he feels even more sorry for their own children.

Not because of the money.
But because he also wants someone to fight for them.

He asks:
Is it because they are poor?

Is it because they don’t have a strong lawyer?

Is it just for those accused of human rights?

They are not asking for special treatment.

All they are asking for is a fair view, genuine concern, and clear action for the victims.

To this day, he says, he still can’t sleep because of the weight on his heart.

Apolaki Caldera: The Hidden Supervolcano Beneath Philippine Seas
Few realize that east of Luzon, deep within the Philippine Rise (formerly Benham Rise), rests a sleeping titan . The Apolaki Caldera, the largest known caldera on Earth.
Spanning an astonishing 150 kilometers in diameter, Apolaki dwarfs even Yellowstone and Toba. Scientists believe it was formed by cataclysmic volcanic eruptions millions of years ago, explosions so immense that they reshaped the seafloor and carved out the vast underwater basin we know today.
Its name, Apolaki derived from the ancient Filipino god of the sun and war is fitting for such a formidable natural wonder. Though now dormant, the caldera stands as a silent witness to the fiery geological past of the Philippines, a country sitting atop the volatile Pacific Ring of Fire.
The discovery of Apolaki not only rewrote our understanding of Philippine geology but also highlighted the nation’s hidden place among the Earth’s greatest natural marvels.
The Apolaki Caldera was officially identified by marine geophysicist Jenny Anne Barretto and her team in 2019, using high-resolution bathymetric mapping of the Philippine Rise.
