Fifteen company-sponsored and placement cadets entered the university dormitory, after signing the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with their parents and going through a series of obstacles as part of the initiation process last July 12, at the university grounds.

These second and third year students are cadets under three maritime companiesโ€”three of them were from Bouvet Shipping Management Corporation, seven came from Phoenix Maritime Corporation, and five of which are with Veritas Maritime Corporation.

Sixteen senior dormers from Stolt Nielsen Philippines Inc. and Bouvet Shipping Management facilitated the MOA signing and organized the initiation obstacles.

They also guided and prepared the junior dormers weeks before the day of the initiation.

Dorm masters, 2/M Karl Danielle H. Sira and 2/M Abcede Bangalisan II were also present during the said activity as they did not only gave lectures on dormitory rules and customs but also oversaw the entire event.

The university's dormitory program aims to instill discipline, wellness, and leadership skills among the cadets while still pursuing excellence in their academics.

John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. delegates represented the institution among other countries during the World Youth Skills Day Summer Camp last July 1-12.

Among representatives from nearby countries: Indonesia, Cambodia, and Taiwan, Mdpn. Christian Sapalo (BSMT III), Mdpn. Wency Wrenz Arellano (BSMT II), and Mdpwn. Chreystel Jhade Tupas (BSMT II) stood out as Filipino participants.

They won third place on Green Skills Innovation Challenge contest as representatives of the digital art class using Mdpwn. Tupas' artwork which campaigns for marine environment protection.

"They taught us how to use Photoshop with the integration of AI then we applied green skills in our field to create sustainable and eco-friendly solutions that address environmental challenges and garnered third place which was awarded last July 9," Mdpwn. Tupas stated.

As part of the ISAT-U International Week, participants learned new skills, explored diverse cultures, and made network with fellow students from other countries.

In addition, the week-long program covers digital art, wood working, fashion design, beauty care and wellness, and welding.

The said activities formally started last July 1 to 4 with an online training on Digital Arts, with the theme: "Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills," followed by a face to face training on digital skills at ISAT-U campus on July 7 to 9.

By July 10 to 12, they ventured to Boracay Island for a cultural trip wherein students attended the Educational Fair focusing on international education talk and joined team building activities facilitated by ISAT U.

With the goal of strengthening ties with international institutions, C/M Virmari S. Tan, Ph.D., OIC-Director for International Relations of JBLFMU, together with 2/M Aldin Turija, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc.'s Unit Internationalization Relations Coordinator, participated in the International Educational Fair 2025 last Friday, July 11.

Organized by the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), the event sought to uncover new opportunities for collaboration and partnership among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) worldwide.

In addition, the fair featured participation from two universities from Indonesia, one from Cambodia, one from Taiwan, as well as over 20 HEIs of the country, all convening on the eventโ€™s final day.

A keynote speech by a CHED representative highlighted the vital role of mutual support and cooperation among Philippine HEIs, that they should help one another to enhance educational standards across the country.

During the event, 2/M Turija actively engaged with delegates from numerous global universities, exploring potential partnerships such as student and faculty exchanges, cultural programs, and other collaborative initiatives, promising mutual benefits between universities.

Notably, the event was part of Iloilo Science and Technology University's International Week and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)โ€”specifically SDG 17, Partnership for the Goals, and SDG 4, Quality Education.

Number one!

The freshmen proudly roared as they congregated for the annual Pang Abi-Abi.

With the theme โ€œSetting Sail with Purpose: Honoring Culture, Shaping Tomorrow,โ€ John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. launched Pang Abi-Abi 2025 โ€œHow to Train Your Dragonโ€ edition earlier this day, July 15, 2025, at the JBLFMU-A covered gym.

Starting off with the university walk to formally welcome the new students, the program proceeded with the opening remarks from Mr. Robert O. Parcia, MSMM, Administrator, followed by a series of intermission numbers, talent showcases, and games.

After the presentation of uniforms, exhibited by the second and third year students, Ms. Majah Angelica V. Sapio, RPm, introduced JBLFMUโ€™s core values (I-PLEDGE).

In addition, D/C Marc Gerard L. Camba, former Student Executive Council President, then continued with a valuable talk to the freshmen before the faculty, staff, SEC, and SSG officers were finally introduced.

For the afternoon program, the new students were then taken around the university for the much-awaited campus tour before gathering again in the gym for the last event, the registration and recruitment of clubs and organizations, to officially conclude the one-day event.
