𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐃𝐫. 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐆𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐲 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝

CEBU CITY — The spotlight shone on CCTC as Dr. Josephine M. Tabal, Dean of the College of Education, was honored with the Gawad Banyuhay Ugnayan Award on September 16, 2025, at the University of the Visayas Gymnasium.

The Gawad Banyuhay Ugnayan Award, an initiative of the Dr. Carl Balita Foundation, is given to educators, leaders, and organizations who spark transformation in their fields and inspire positive change. The term Banyuhay — which fuses the words bago (new), anyo (form), and buhay (life) — is all about renewal and growth, values that resonate strongly with Dr. Tabal’s leadership journey.

Under her guidance, CCTC’s College of Education has become a hub for aspiring teachers to learn, innovate, and thrive. Her dedication to mentorship and her commitment to shaping future educators have earned her respect not only from her colleagues but from the wider academic community.

Dr. Tabal’s achievement underscores CCTC’s vision of producing educators who don’t just teach lessons but also inspire transformation — living proof that education remains one of the most powerful tools for change.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐂 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐄𝐀𝐏-𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐏𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬

CEBU, Sacred Heart School - Ateneo de Cebu – Consolatrix College of Toledo City, Inc. presented six student-leaders to join this year’s CEAP-CESSPA Student Congress with the theme: “Living Synodality Together: Young Leaders as Witnesses of Hope.”

The student-leaders, Mary Deñele Remeticado, Yhanna Isabel Dayon, Leonilyn Ompong, Lyz Arguedo, Paolo Gabriel Garcia, and John Kyle Samante, were accompanied by the school assistant principal, Sr. Luzviminda C. Escal, A.R., for their whole-day congress.

| “𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑? 𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑!” affirmed Abadines.

The morning session, led by Miguel Karlo Abadines, executive director of Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan, featured an insightful talk on inspiring youth to bring change, serve others, and dream of a better future for the Philippines. He reminded everyone that as student-leaders, change starts within. “𝐷𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑚! 𝑇ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑏𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑖𝑛 𝑖𝑡,” he echoed, quoting Pope Francis.

The congress centered on leadership, change, community, and awareness. Later in the day, the delegates participated in breakout sessions, where they formed groups with students from other schools to reflect on and create action plans in response to the question: “𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒖𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒘𝒔? The Academians (Academia de Sta. Monica) and IHMAnians (Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy) teamed up with the Consolatricians to exchange creative and insightful ideas.

After the breakout session, the delegates went back to the theater and conducted the Daily Examen. Participants paused to close their eyes, review their day, and give thanks to God for His unending love and guidance.

The day concluded with the most solemn part of the congress—the Holy Mass. It was a sacred reminder that everything begins and ends with God.

After the program, the Consolatricians capped off the day carrying new lessons, renewed inspiration, and the determination to lead with hope and courage.

The CCTC boys basketball team has officially stepped onto the court for the 2nd Vice Mayor Jay Sigue’s Cup 2025, which opened Sept. 14 at the Brgy. Sangi Covered Court.
Guided by coach Jones Wilbur B. Telmoso, the team — a mix of junior and senior high school standouts — is set to battle some of the city’s toughest schools, including Bato National High School, Toledo National Vocational School, Luray II National High School, Magdugo National High School, Matab-ang National High School, Media Once National High School, DAS National High School, Westbay Learning Center, Leaton School, St. Bernard School and PAU Excellencia Global Academy Foundation Inc.
Cheering them on from the sidelines were Academic Coordinator Eleanor Bacalso, Assistant School Principal Sr. Luzviminda Escal, AR, School President Sr. Josephine D. Ativo, AR, and teacher Celyn Niña Grace Natural, along with a lively crowd of friends and schoolmates waving their support.
Adding a splash of victory to the opening day, team muse Caitlin Rose Omamos earned second runner-up honors in the pageant runway, giving Consolatricians another reason to celebrate.
