REPORTED SIGHTING IN ORMOC OF MISSING PRIEST IS BEING ACTIVELY VALIDATED - COL APAS

The Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) is currently conducting an active validation and investigation regarding the reported missing person, Father Edwin Cutz Caintoy, 55 years old, parish priest of San Jose de Malibago Parish, Brgy. Malibago, Babatngon, Leyte, including circulating social media posts claiming that he has already been found, which remain unverified as of this time.
Based on the report received on December 24, 2025, Father Caintoy was last seen at around 9:08 AM on December 23, 2025 after traveling from Babatngon, Leyte to Tacloban City. He was last captured on CCTV footage near the VSYS Department Store walking toward Robinsons North, Tacloban City. His whereabouts thereafter remain unknown.
The LPPO, in coordination with concerned police units, is actively pursuing all leads to determine the circumstances of the incident and locate Father Caintoy at the soonest possible time.
The LPPO urges the public and media to refrain from spreading unverified or misleading information, as this may cause unnecessary alarm and hinder ongoing investigations. Verified updates will be released through official police channels.
Anyone with reliable information is encouraged to coordinate with the Babatngon Municipal Police Station or the nearest police station.
