𝗦𝘁. 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿 is a 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 devoted to serving enslaved Africans in Colombia. His 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 9, and 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 26, 1580 in Catalonia, Spain. He became a Jesuit at the age of 20 and eventually served as a missionary in South America.

He devoted his life to caring for Africans held in slavery after being strongly affected by their suffering, and earned the title of "𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬." He traveled on slave ships to provide food, medicine, and spiritual support. He baptized approximately 300,000 enslaved people and became a voice for justice and charity during a brutal time.
