Is this the end of my hiking era?
2025 was a big year ⛰️
• Mt. Pulag via Akiki Trail — 3 day hike (April)
• Mt. Apo via Kapatagan Trail — 3 day hike (May)
• Cawag Hexa — 16-hour day hike (June)
• Kibungan Cross Country — 3 day hike (Sept)
• Bakun Duo: Mt. Tenglawan & Mt. Kabunian — 2 day hike (Oct)
Plus a lot of prep hikes in between.
Oct 17, 2025 - my journey took an unexpected turn. While playing volleyball, my already abused knee finally gave in. Full ACL tear, partial meniscus tear.
I ended this year differently than I imagined… with regret, what ifs, and a hard reminder to listen to my body. Recovery will take time, and 2026 now looks less like planning climbs and more like planning surgery and rehab.
Still, this injury doesn’t erase the memories, the summits, or the love I have for the mountains. If anything, it reminds me why I want to come back stronger - physically, mentally, and with more respect for my body.
So for now, pahinga muna. But this isn’t goodbye.
I’ll see you on the trails again - hopefully before this year ends. That’s the goal. Kapeeeeeeet!
Kaya sa mga nag-aaya at sa lahat ng hiking group chats - pass muna tayo mga ser 😂
This isn’t the end of my hiking era — it’s the recovery chapter before the comeback.
