Pasay City — A 40-year-old Cotabato-bound passenger was arrested by the PNP Aviation Security Group in collaboration with Office for Transportation Security, after attempting to transport an undocumented improvised firearm at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 on Monday morning, July 7, 2025.
The prohibited item was detected by OTS Screening Officer during routine X-ray procedure at the Baggage Make-up Area, concealed inside a tire interior and wrapped in plastic. A manual inspection revealed it was an improvised firearm potentially capable of discharging .22-caliber ammunition, for which the passenger failed to produce legal documentation.
Upon confirmation of the prohibited item, operatives of the PNP AVSEGROUP arrested the passenger for violation of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Arrested passenger along with the confiscated Security Risk Item (SRI), was placed under the custody of NAIA Police Station 2 for documentation and the preparation of appropriate charges.
“Our top priority is ensuring a safe and secure airport environment for all. We call on everyone to strictly follow airport security measures, as we will not tolerate any act that endangers the safety and security of our passengers, personnel, and stakeholders,” stated PBGen Jason L. Capoy, Acting Director of the PNP Aviation Security Group.
