13 September 2025 | The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 Cagayan Provincial Office joined the nationwide “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” government assistance drive held simultaneously today across the province of Cagayan. The initiative, in celebration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s birthday, was designed to bring essential government services closer to the people, ensuring accessible, responsive, and meaningful public service delivery.

In his welcome message, Governor Edgar “Egay” Aglipay thanked all participating agencies for their support and emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to aligning local initiatives with the national government’s vision, particularly in ensuring that basic services reach underserved communities.

Led by DTI R2 Regional Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag, CESO V, together with Acting Assistant Regional Director Atty. Michael B. Paggabao and DTI R2 Cagayan Provincial Director Mary Ann Corpuz-Dy, the agency actively promoted and presented its services to the public during the activity. The event was also graced by CEZA Administrator Katrina Ponce Enrile, who represented President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., along with Deputy Administrator Perla Tumaliuan, Provincial Administrator Atty. Ma. Rosario Mamba-Villaflor, department heads from the Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGC), DOLE R2 Regional Director Jesus Elpidio Atal Jr., and other officials.

DTI R2 Cagayan provided frontline services through its Business Development Division, offering Business Name and BMBE Registration, Business Consultancy, and SB Corp Loan Facilitation at SM City Tuguegarao. The agency also supported DOLE R2’s Mini Trade Fair at SM Tuguegarao Downtown by helping campaign for participants, which showcased local products and encouraged greater public patronage of micro and small enterprises.

Meanwhile, the Consumer Protection Division, with support from the Regional Office, held a two-day Product Standards Showcase at CSU-Carig Campus. The activity featured exhibits, lectures, and interactive discussions to raise awareness on product standards and certification schemes among students and consumers, in line with DTI’s mandate to promote consumer protection and empowerment through academic and community partnerships.

Through its services and initiatives during the event, DTI R2 Cagayan reinforced its role in the united effort of government agencies to uplift communities, create opportunities, and ensure the welfare of both businesses and consumers.

Undersecretary Blesila A. Lantayona, who heads the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Operations Group, personally visited several SSF projects in the province of Cagayan. These include the Dairy Processing and Tropical Fruits Processing SSF projects at Cagayan State University (CSU) Piat Campus, with Campus Executive Officer Hi**er C. Dangatan; and the Chicharica Rice Cassava Crackers Production, Rice Cassava Crackers Processing Expansion, and Buffalo Pops Product Processing and Toll Packaging SSF projects at Lighthouse Cooperative in Tuguegarao City, led by General Manager Arturo Tabbu.

These projects provide entrepreneurs with access to modern equipment, technology, and shared resources to enhance productivity, improve product quality, and boost market competitiveness.

Joining USec. Lantayona were DTI Region 2 Regional Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag, CESO V; Acting Assistant Regional Director Atty. Michael B. Paggabao; DTI Cagayan Provincial Director Mary Ann Corpuz-Dy; and staff from both the DTI Region 2 and DTI Cagayan Provincial Offices.
