Solana, Cagayan โ€” The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 (DA RFO 02) conducted a community-based awareness activity on November 29, 2025 in Sitio Damortis, Sampaguita, Solana, Cagayan, as part of the nationwide observance of National Childrenโ€™s Month.

The activity focused on promoting childrenโ€™s rights, as well as enhancing awareness on child welfare and protection. A major feature of the event was the introduction of basic agricultural activities to participating children. Ms. Sheila Orpilla, along with IDU personnel, facilitated a basic gardening session for the children and provided an orientation for parents to support the initiative at home.

DA RFO 02 believes that teaching children at an early age helps them appreciate the value, beauty, and relevance of agriculture. The children actively participated in the hands-on gardening session, where they were provided with tools and materials that would allow them to continue tending to their plots even after the activity.

The initiative is part of the agencyโ€™s continuing efforts to integrate agriculture-related orientations for children alongside its regular youth-focused programs.

UPDATE || DA RFO 02, through its Institutional Development Unit, conducted a community organizing activity on November 21, 2025, in Solana, Cagayan. The activity served as an avenue for farmers to be organized and registered with DOLE.

People always ask me questions like,
โ€œWhy Agriculture? Whatโ€™s even in that course? Isnโ€™t the salary low? Why choose that?โ€

But what they donโ€™t see is the reality behind it.

During first year, Agriculture seems simpleโ€ฆ almost nothing special.
But when you reach your 3rd or 4th year, everything changes.
The course tests you physically and mentally. It pushes you, it exhausts you, and it forces you to grow. Agriculture doesnโ€™t just teach you lessons it matures your mind, shapes your discipline, and strengthens your character.

I didnโ€™t like this course at first. I used to think Agriculture meant becoming a farmer with low income.
But I was wrong.

Agriculture is practical.
It is broad.
It is full of opportunities here and abroad.
You just need patience, grit, and the willingness to use your degree the right way.

Most of all, Agriculture changed my perspective in life.
It taught me resilience, humility, and real-world skills that no other course can give the same way.

So whatever your reason is for choosing Agriculture stand firm. Keep going.
Because not everyone is strong enough to take this path.
But those who doโ€ฆ
are the ones who grow.
