Yesterday marked the official inauguration of our newly elected and re-elected leaders of Mapun, Tawi-Tawi. To our Mayor, Vice Mayor and Councilors! together with your spouses who stand beside you in service. may this be the beginning of a term filled with unity, progress, and genuine leadership.

May you lead with heart, courage, humility, and deep sense of duty. Hindi lang para sa sarili, kundi para sa buong bayan. Sana'y maging inspirasyon kayo sa susunod na henerasyon ng mga Jama Mapun.

CONGRATULATIONS, DR. OPHAILA NASIL MONTERON!

Today, Mapun celebrates one of its finest! a woman of brilliance, dedication, and quiet strength. After years of hard work, research, and service to education, Ma’am Ophaila is now officially Dr. Ophaila Monteron. a title so well-earned, and a journey so deeply inspiring.

Back when I was still in high school, she was already a professor. There were days I didn’t have enough for allowance or fare, and she would quietly hand me some help, or cover my tricycle ride when we happened to be going the same way. She never made it feel like charity. just genuine care. That small act stayed with me forever. Magsuku Banahan Kah! Niya takupan ku sampay batnaa.

Now, she stands not only as a doctor of philosophy, but as a living symbol of what it means to rise with purpose and uplift others along the way.

Your story, Ma’am, is not just your own. It now belongs to every Jama Mapun youth who dares to dream big. 🌺

We are proud. We are inspired. Congratulation once again Kah Ophai ❤️

Before conditioner na may keratin-keratin, ang gamit lang natin? Gata ng niyog! 🥥😂

After maligo sa balon, kuha ng niyog, kudkurin, pigain, tapos apply sa buhok. No salon? No problem! Basta makintab at mabango pa rin ang buhok kahit walang conditioner. 😅

Hanggang ngayon, may ilan pa rin sa Jama Mapun na ginagawa 'to. Old school, pero effective. Nature ang OG hair care!

Before you had bright lights and fans, remember the days of Palitaan/paliyatut or Oil lamp?

That one oil lamp in the middle of the room. everyone gathered around it just to eat, do homework, or simply talk.
And when the wind blew it out? Ay, panic! 😅 You had to light it again like it was a birthday candle 🎂🔥

Now, many houses have solar lights, even a bit of luxury. But some families in Mapun still use oil lamp today. holding on to the old ways, not by choice, but because life is still tough.

Let’s not forget those nights.
Those simple times made us who we are. strong, humble, and full of heart.
