KOLUM | Hindi New Normal ang Matagal ng Problema

Dapat nga bang tanggapin na lang ang ganitong sitwasyon kaysa mag-isip ng posibleng solusyon?

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng presidente ng Pilipinas, "Palitan na natin ang pag-iisip natin; hindi ito unusual, hindi ito emergency. Ito gayun ang panahon, mangyayari ito."

Hindi sapat na palitan lamang natin ang ating pag-iisip upang tanggapin ang mga matagal nang problema bilang “new normal.” Ang ganitong pananaw ay maaaring magdulot ng pagiging kampante at kawalan ng pagkilos. Bagamat mahalaga ang pagbabago ng mindset upang maging resilient at handa sa mga pagsubok, hindi ito dapat maging dahilan para tumigil tayo sa pagsusumikap na maghanap ng mga konkretong solusyon. Hindi rin sapat ang simpleng mitigation o pagpigil lamang sa paglala ng problema; kailangang magsagawa tayo ng mas malalalim at pangmatagalang hakbang upang tunay na malutas ang mga suliranin.

Ang pagtanggap sa problema nang walang pagkilos ay tila pagtanggap sa pagkatalo bago pa man lumaban. Sa halip, dapat nating gamitin ang ating pag-iisip hindi para lamang tanggapin ang sitwasyon, kundi para maghanap ng mga paraan upang ito ay malampasan. Hindi naman siguro masama na hanapin at pagtuunan ng pansin ang sinasabing flood control project na may napakalaking budget, lalo na kung ito ay makatutulong upang maiwasan ang paulit-ulit na pagbaha at makapagbigay ng pangmatagalang solusyon sa problema.

Ang tunay na lakas ng isang bayan ay makikita sa kanyang kakayahang harapin at lutasin ang mga suliranin, hindi sa simpleng pagtanggap o pansamantalang pag-ayos lamang sa mga ito. Hindi rin nasusukat ito sa tagal ng panahon na nakararanas ng problema, kundi sa kung paano ito bumangon at nagtagumpay sa kabila ng mga pagsubok. Kaya naman, dapat patuloy nating himukin ang ating mga sarili at ang mga namumuno na mag-isip ng mga paraan upang mapabuti ang kalagayan ng ating bansa, sa halip na basta na lang tanggapin ang sitwasyon.

WALA PA RING PASOK!

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is closely monitoring three low-pressure areas (LPAs) within and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). One of these LPAs has intensified into a tropical storm, named "Dante," and newly formed Tropical Cyclone “Emong” , which has rapidly intensified into a tropical depression prompting a blue alert status in Camarines Sur due to the combined effects of the LPA and the southwest monsoon (Habagat). Thus, Classes are still suspended.

SUSPENSION OF CLASSES!
— Lara Bea Robianes

Malacañang, suspended the work in government offices and classes at all levels in Metro Manila and several provinces on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 through Memorandum Circular No. 90, due to persistent heavy rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon (Habagat).

This decision follows a recommendation from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The suspension covers Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Palawan, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Laguna, and Negros Occidental.

This announcement comes as PAGASA monitors three active Low Pressure Areas (LPAs), one of which are within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and the other one is closely tracked outside. One of these LPAs has intensified into Tropical Depression Dante. Camarines Sur is particularly vulnerable to heavy rains expected to continue until tomorrow noon (July 23).

ANNOUNCEMENT || RESUMPTION OF CLASSES

Severe Tropical Storm "Crising", has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of Yesterday— July 19, 2025.

Although it's no longer within the country's jurisdiction, its impact are still being felt, bringing heavy rains, strong winds, and hazardous sea conditions across much of the country. However, classes in both public and private schools in Camarines Sur will resume tomorrow, July 21, 2025, following the lifting of suspension due to improved weather conditions, according to PAGASA-DOST Weather Advisory No. 21, issued at 5:00 PM today.

Classes Suspended in Libmanan, Camarines Sur Due to Heavy Rains

After an "Orange Heavy Rainfall Outlook" issued by PAGASA for Camarines Sur, classes at all levels in both public and private schools within the Municipality of Libmanan have been suspended today, July 17, 2025. The suspension was undertaken on the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Libmanan and shall last until the advisory is lifted.

An "Orange" rain warning issued by PAGASA indicates the occurrence of strong rains, which may cause severe flooding and potential landslides. People in Libmanan should remain alert and comply with any additional orders issued by local authorities for their protection.
