Kalinga Eskwela: COED LSG launches Semestral Clean-Up Drive

As part of NEUST-COEDโ€™s commitment to its zero-waste policy, the Teacher Education Student Government (TESG) launched the first phase of its semestral clean-up drive, โ€œKalinga Eskwela: COED Clean-Up Drive,โ€ last July 21, 2025.

The event was held in collaboration with the departmentโ€™s different clubs and organizations which included COED Mathematics Club (CMC), English Club of the College of Education (ECCE), NEUST Science Club (NSC), Special Needs Club (SNED), Social Studies Club (SSC), Student Teacher Alliance for Futuristics Federation (STAFF), and Samahan ng mga Tagapagtaguyod ng Wikang Filipino (STWF).

The clean-up drive focused on maintaining a clean and organized learning environment by covering key areas in COED such as hallways, classrooms, laboratories, and other facilities within the college.

Dr. Jo Neil T. Peria, LPT, RMicro, FSCO, Dean of the College of Education, along with the department chairpersons, expressed appreciation for the initiative. They commended TESG officers and the academic clubs for their teamwork and dedication in keeping the campus clean and aligned with the zero-waste policy.

The Office of the Vice-President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA), led by Dr. Feliciana P. Jacoba, is teaming up with the College of Education, under Dean Dr. Jo Neil Peria, for the Faculty Retooling on Test Construction and Asynchronous Module Writing from July 17 to 18, 2025, at the CLPC Hall, Mini-Convention Center, NEUST Sumacab Campus. The training aimed to improve faculty skills in creating quality assessments and well-designed asynchronous modules. It gathered educators from different NEUST colleges, departments, and satellite campuses.

The opening ceremony featured the National Anthem performed in sign language by Dr. Christopher Francisco. Dr. Jacoba welcomed attendees, highlighting the importance of ongoing faculty training for achieving academic success and improving student outcomes.

The first lecture concentrated on test construction. Dr. Christopher R. Vergara began with the lecture on Strategic Test Planning: Building a Table of Specifications (TOS), discussing its significance and Revised Bloomโ€™s Taxonomy while guiding participants with the TOS creation. Dr. Aivin B. Balquedra discussed on Fundamentals of Test Construction: Demystifying and Rewriting Vague Questions, focusing on clarity and precision. Mr. Joel I. Alvarez, MAT, LPT, wrapped up the morning session with the lecture on Making Assessment that Works: Validity, Reliability and Item Analysis, emphasizing evidence-based evaluation tools.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to asynchronous module writing. Mr. Darwin M. Andres, MAEd, LPT, elucidated on Engaging Learners Through Structured, Discipline-Specific Module Content. Pauline Joy Tardaguila, MAEd, LPT, talked about Designing Logical and Interactive Modules for Asynchronous Classes, while Dr. Luijim S. Jose explored the topic Upholding Ethical Integrity in Discipline-Based Module Design, addressing ethical standards in content creation.

Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo, University President, encouraged the attendees to embrace their essential role in quality education. The last speaker, Reynaldo J. Ilumin, MAE, LPT, discussed Assessment Process of Asynchronous Modules in the ASC Learning Ecosystem, providing strategies for evaluating digital modules. The program highlighted NEUSTโ€™s strong commitment to faculty development, innovation, and academic success.

Five graduates of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, (NEUST) College of Education (COEd) have successfully passed the June 2025 Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) for Teachers, based on the results released by the PRC on June 27, 2025.

The passers are from Sumacab Campus, San Isidro Campus, and Talavera Off-campus, these Secondary Education alumni achieved a perfect 100% passing rate for first-time takers and an impressive 83.33% overall institutional passing rateโ€”far surpassing the national average of 66.83%.

COEd Dominates International Research Competition

Student-researchers from the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technologyโ€“College of Education (NEUST-COED) proudly represented the university in the 1st Global Students Research Summit held on June 26, 2025. The virtual conference, conducted via Zoom, was organized by Universitas PGRI Madiun, Indonesia, and co-hosted by academic institutions from across Southeast Asia including Walailak University and Hatyai University (Thailand), NEUST, ISPSC, CMU (Philippines), ISC (Timor Leste), POLISAS (Malaysia), UTP Surakarta, UMKT, Universitas PGRI Banyuwangi, and Universitas PGRI MPU Sindok Nganjuk (Indonesia).
