𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗛 “𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗗” 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗔 𝗪𝗘𝗕𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗘
City Tourism Officer Engr. Aloysius Mapalo announced plans to launch a new and improved Visita website, an online platform for visitor management exclusively for the Summer Capital.
Visita is a web-based directory for everything Baguio, from certified establishments to a reliable accommodation finder. It is designed to serve as a quality-of-life platform for both residents and visitors.
Mapalo said new features will include a revamped and comprehensive list of properly licensed accommodations and establishments, a visitor registration portal, and additional tools for transportation and services.
The directory currently available on the Visita website will be expanded with a rating system, which Mapalo described as a “badge” of approval issued by the city to certify legitimate hotels, restaurants, and lodging establishments. This will follow provisions of the Tourism Code, which the office also aims to publish later this year.
The visitor registration portal will provide tourists with a more personalized experience and serve as a tool to monitor visitor influx through Baguio’s seven major entry points.
This will help the city fine-tune tourism policies in the long term, Mapalo said.
A collection system allowing tourists to pay a one-time environmental fee for an all-access pass to city parks is also being considered, along with an e-market platform for delivering local specialties directly to accommodations or terminals.
Plans also include a comprehensive public transport finder to help users locate jeepney terminals and routes for easier commuting.
A Hop On, Hop Off (HOHO) tourist circuit covering major destinations in the city is also in development.
These features will be presented in detail during the Tourism Stakeholders’ Meeting scheduled in July at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center, along with the proposed Tourism Code. -Khalil Pilando, PIO-Baguio Intern/gabykeith
