SAMAL NEWS || “Padayon sa Pag-eskwela, Kabatan-onan sa Isla”
August 9, 2024 - The Local Government of Island Garden City of Samal through the City Mayor's Office Public Employment Service Division conducted a heartwarming initiative by donating essential school supplies to the students of Tagbay Elementary School - Pigasaan Campus. This noble act was part of the Community Outreach Program of the Government Internship Program (GIP) beneficiaries Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) grantees.
PESO - IGACOS takes pride in supporting the education of young learners by providing them with much-needed school materials. The donation included notebooks, papers, crayons, pencils, and plastic envelopes, all aimed at ensuring that every student is well-equipped to excel in their academic pursuits.
A total of 32 regular students and 3 visitor pupils, spanning across different grade levels, were recipients of these school supplies. This gesture aimed to instill a sense of readiness and enthusiasm for learning among the students.
Ms. Emmalyn H. Moriones, MBA, the PESO Manager, conveyed a heartfelt message on behalf of the Local Chief Executive, Mayor Al David T. Uy, emphasizing the significance of education in shaping the future of every child. The support from various partner institutions, the Department of Education Division of IGACOS and Department of Labor and Employment, were also acknowledged, highlighting the collective effort towards enhancing educational opportunities for the children of Samal. “You are far, but you are near in the hearts of us” - Ms. Moriones said.
Ms. Melanie Del Campo, Senior Education Program Specialist of the Department of Education- IGACOS Division stated that "The pupils of Pigasaan are very blessed because there are many partner institutions that are very much willing to extend their hands for the education of the children”
Mr. Manny Carl Clareon, Labor and Employment Officer III (DOLE), reiterated the office's commitment to promoting education and discouraging child labor in the community. He emphasized the importance of every child on the island receiving education and not engaging in labor at a young age. “Tanan bata sa isla dapat mag eskwela, dapat walay bata nga mag trabaho”Mr. Clarion stated.
On behalf of Mr. Usher Maranga, School Head of Tagbay Elementary School - Pigasaan Campus Mr. Melchisedec Sulmeron, Teacher 1, delivered a message of gratitude. He said “Dako ang pasalamat sa Pigasaan sa mga initiatives LGU IGACOS mahitungod sa pag asenso sa edukasyon sa isla”.
As an anonymous quote rightly states, "Every child has the right to education, but only few are given the opportunity." The Public Employment Service Office of IGACOS continues to work diligently in bridging gaps and providing essential services to the youth of Samal.
