𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌 | 𝐁𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Youth Leaders and Advocates gathered for the 2025 International, ASEAN, National Youth Day and Linggo ng Kabataan Celebration, held on August 12, 2025, at Casa Lorenzo Food and Culture, Tagas, Daraga, Albay, with the theme “Human Rights in Action: Youth Solutions for Local Impact.”
The program began with the Opening Ceremonies featuring the CHR Ecumenical Prayer, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and Welcome Remarks from Atty Arlene Q. Alangco, Regional Director of CHR Bicol Region.
The morning session began with "Human Rights 101: Civil, Political, Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights," presented by Czarina Mae R. Cantone, Information Officer I.
This was followed by the activity of Human Rights Issue Mapping, where participants divided into groups, assigned each topic to answer the questions given to them, and later presented their findings to everyone.
While lunch break was ongoing, the three speakers went ahead and discussed their remaining topics, starting with Atty. Sarah Esther H. Bonos, Attorney IV, with her topic, Youth Human Rights Defender.
For Youth Persons with Disabilities by Atty Eleaza Marie P. Encisa, Atty IV, and lastly IP Youth by Atty Christian Irvin A. Bautista, Special Investigator I.
It was a great discussion and interaction despite the guests eating their lunches.
After the lunch break, Krystal Jane S. Lofamia, Special Investigator I, facilitated the workshop Activity Proposal Template: Rights-Based Initiative, where each group will propose a solution to solve the problem they presented earlier, with a panel led by Atty Arlene Q. Alangco as Head Commenter and Atty Bonos, Encisa, and Bautista as panel members.
The workshop ended with a fun and energetic interaction with each other.
The day concluded with Reflection and Commitment activities, Signing of the Pledge of Commitment, and the Closing Message from Atty. Christian Irvin A. Bautista, encouraging the youth to continue their advocacy beyond the event.
With the dedication of the Commission on Human Rights- Bicol Region and the active participation of the youth, the celebration became a meaningful platform for learning, collaboration, and action toward a society where everyone’s rights are respected, protected, and fulfilled.
