On May 7, 2025, the Maritime Deck Organization (MDO), in partnership with the deck officers of Mariners’ Legazpi, conducted a one-day workshop at the JCJ Gym Annex by the Sea to equip first-year BSMT students with essential skills in deck competency, discipline, and leadership through hands-on activities and team-building challenges.

The morning program began with orderly registration and team groupings, followed by a solemn prayer and the national anthem, after which MDO Chief Officer Jom Rodriguez delivered the opening remarks and MDO Master Jeric Lorenz Bunayog conducted a station-by-station orientation to ensure everyone was properly briefed and ready.

Students were introduced to each instructor before beginning the workshop proper, where they received hands-on mentorship in knot tying from 3/M Jerenz Clark Amparo, in staging from OIC-NW Jonas Bermas, and the use of the bosun’s chair from Capt. Zosimo Barrazoña Jr., with each activity emphasizing coordination, maritime protocol, and technical skill.

After snacks and a short break, the afternoon session keeps the energy with exciting competitions, including the skills contest and performance judging, all meant to challenge their practical knowledge and deck readiness.
Under the watchful eyes of judges, OIC-NW Jonas Bermas, 3/M Jerenz Clark Amparo, and Capt. Zosimo Barrazoña Jr., Station 3, was declared the overall champion.

The winners for each category were:
· Bosun’s Chair – Station 3
· Gendula – Station 1
· Knot Tying – Station 2

The event concluded with a heartfelt awarding ceremony, a joyful intermission number performed by students, and reflective closing remarks from the MDO Master.

“Thank you for being here and for making this workshop a success. I hope you learned something meaningful today — not just about your roles on deck, but also about who you are as future officers.”

Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges Foundation of Legazpi City set sail on a spiritual journey as students gathered at The Concourse hall last May 29, 2025, for Recollection 2025, themed "Gratitude and Personal Reflection: Appreciating and Celebrating Journey with God."

The day began at 8:00 AM with registration, followed by a warm welcome from Ms. Ruby Mae A. Cuya, OIC of the Student Affairs Services, who also introduced the day's lineup of speakers.

Ms. Zarina Jonine B. Lantican took the lead in starting the day with her first activity. Students exchanged color-coded paper hearts, each bearing a message of forgiveness, appreciation, thankfulness, and encouragement. The activity created a ripple of joy and reflection, as participants felt the value of simple gestures rooted in love and compassion.

The program continued with the second activity, a contemplative session led by Ms. Nenita P. Baldon, who invited students to pause and trace the presence of God throughout their personal journeys. The reflective space offered students a moment of silence and sincerity, encouraging them to reconnect with their faith and purpose.

After a shared lunch at noon, the afternoon continued with music and a soulful spiritual talk by Rev. Fr. Andro de Vera, the event’s Recollection Master and Presider. His message centered on living a life of gratitude and to remain grounded in their faith, even amid life’s uncertainties.

The highlight of the day was the Eucharistic Celebration, solemnly presided over by Rev. Fr. Willson Bejo, with Ms. Melinda L. Jacob served as commentator. The mass offered a meaningful conclusion to the recollection, leaving attendees renewed in faith and filled with hope.

Hosting duties were gracefully handled by student emcee Pia Glorelle Balde, assisted by MIDN. Joshua Blanca, who kept the program flowing with warmth and energy throughout the day.

More than just a school event, Recollection 2025 became a meaningful send-off for graduating students. As they prepare to set sail toward their next chapter, this recollection serves as a spiritual compass reminding them of the strength that comes from faith, reflection, and community. Smooth seas and steady winds, Marinerians! Your voyage is just beginning.
