High School is a transformative chapter for every student, and LHS has opened its doors for usโBatch โ25.
As loud as the teacherโs voice,
As clear as the writings on the board,
Every lesson taught and gained at the LHS classrooms,
Forever marked clearly within, and echoed loudly beyond the walls

It feels like it was just yesterday when we were running through the halls of the LHS building as grade 7 students, with hungry minds that were eager to learn everything within grasp. We were the youngest section in the LHS, one that is claimed to be the most handful groupโinitially comprising 53 students, the most in a section back then. From the second floor to the first, through the corridors, voices echoed from the grade 7 room. We were the new ones, yet we adapted quickly with the guidance of our teachers and the connection made with our classmates. Entering the halls of LHS, we start a new chapter in our academic journey as we venture to the path of Junior High School.

Time quickly shifts from being the youngest students to being the eldest Junior High School students. A time skip caused by the pandemic that altered the mode of learning, forcing students to learn and to make bonds virtually. Two years of facing the screen, relying on the internet signal, dragging ourselves to attend every Google meeting, and keeping our eyes open until the 11:59 pm deadlineโit was after two years when we were back to the halls of LHS, now as grade 10 students navigating the new normal with a few โsee you aroundโ phrases uttered along the way. It was here where friendships and togetherness thrived. We had teamwork strengthening group projects, from role-play to the short films per group and musical as a class, even dressing up as characters of Jose Rizalโs El Filibusterismo. Junior High School has taught us how forming connections and bonds with our classmates help us grow as a person, realizing that we donโt need to be alone in our battles and that trust within our group in activities makes it easier to deliver a quality output.

As we exchange our costumes for the white Junior toga, we reminisce about the moments we have had for the past 4 years, how we evolved as students, with 49 students leaving as Junior High School Completers of Batch 2023. We bid our goodbyes and hope for a renewed time with one another as we start a new page in high school. Enrolling for Senior High School had its ups and downs, with limited slots for two sections; STEM with 25 students and HUMSS with 19 after enrollment. It was two rooms filled with old and new faces, teaming up to make the two years of Senior High School fun and memorable. Building new relationships and strengthening the old ones as we start anew.

Our batch was lucky to have two strands available for grabsโhoning both future STEM Scientists and HUMSS Scholars. With STEM immersing in science and mathematics, and HUMSS immersing in social science-based subjects, it was an opportunity for growth and learning from both personal and shared experiences within the two sections. There might not be another set of HUMSS students to grace the LHS building, but the last batch leave a lasting impact as they carry on to uphold the lessons they learned towards their future endeavors. And as we leave the halls, may our batch serve as a testament to our fellow succeeding STEM students that if we can, so can they.

Being a student here at the LHS since grade 7 until grade 12 has given us the privilege to represent the school and carry its name on various competitions. Our batch has been active in both academics and in various extracurricular activities. To be able to act and think fast on quiz bees and collaborate with the group. To be able to write and broadcast facts, knowledge, and events through the power of journalism with digital and traditional media. To be able to excel physically and tactically in combative and ball games, aiming for the gold. To be able to express through music and art, showcasing the talents of the LHSians on stage. Competitions are not just about winning, but also about learning and representing the school. To be able to learn with fellow LHSians and coaches; gaining relationships which fosters camaraderie and social interaction with others. The chance given to us to represent not just the LHS banner, but also DMMMSU and even La Union is a feat worth notingโa feat the past, present, and future LHSians uphold.

Ideally, it was a total of six years of learning within the walls of the Laboratory High School building, six years that have been cut short into four years due to the pandemic, but nevertheless, it was six years of unforgettable high school life filled with memoriesโa roller coaster of emotionsโthat shaped the people we are today. As we graduate from Senior High School, with our maroon Senior toga, and leave the grounds of the school that have been our second home for the past yearsโfour years of Junior High School and two years of Senior High School. The grounds we have walked, the buildings we have passed, the memories we have created, and the lessons we have learned will forever be part of who we areโnot just as an incoming college students, but also as individuals who have been shaped through the lessons that transcend beyond the walls of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus Laboratory High School.
