REMEMBERING | Commemorating the 19th Death Anniversary and Martyrdom of Obispo Maximo Alberto Ramento, "Bishop of the Poor, Peasants, and Workers"
Today, October 3, the Aglipay Central Theological Seminary (ACTS) ,together with the Congregation of The Parish of the Divine Shepherd, commemorate the 19th Death Anniversary of the Former Obispo Maximo Alberto Ramento, the 9th Obispo Maximo of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente. A day where Obispo Alberto Ramento was Martyred in his Convent in Tarlac City, who gave his life for Justice and Peace.
Like Christ, Bishop Ramento stood with peasants, workers, and the marginalized, even when it meant facing threats and violence. On October 3, 2006, his faithful witness was sealed with his blood.
As a Church, the Life of OM Ramento reminds us that the mission of the church is not only for Worship and Devotions, but by living out the Christ’s Love, a Love that embraces the Poor, Justice that defends the oppressed, and Honesty that Speaks truth, and Faithfulness that remains steadfast to Christ’s call – to be a prophetic church, fearless in Proclaiming Justice, and Steadfast in walking with the Poor and Oppressed towards Hope and Freedom.
OM Ramento is known as the "Bishop of the Poor" that stood with peasants, workers, and the oppressed." May his life inspire us to live with love, act with Justice, and remain faithful to God’s mission of building a just and liberating community of faith.
