‎Nancayasan, Urdaneta City - Focusing on third years and fourth years, the Architecture Department faculty initiates Thesis Writing Seminar with the theme "Demystefied: Structuring Content, Enhancing Quality, and Managing Stress", June 6, 2025.

‎The department, spearheaded by the Chairman, Arch. Kenneth Javier Ciriaco, invited four professionals as speakers in the said event.

‎Mr. Julius Balicao lectures on "Coping with Stress Due to Excessive Academic Requirements"; Dr. Lourdes Medrano discusses "Understanding the Core of a Thesis"; Dr. Nimfa Sumera Medriano delves into "Enhancing Thesis Quality Through Grammar and Clarity"; and Asst. Prof. Sherelle Lou S. Icutan focuses on "Choosing the Right Approach: Research Designs and Statistical Analysis".

‎Arch. Jumar Balicao welcomes the students and emphasizes three things that incoming thesis students have to do.

‎He emphasized the words of the Lord, in Proverbs 22:4 and Colossians 3:17 where, in architecture, we must have humility in thoughts, words, and works. "Remember that, our ability is not solely for our own. The greatest among us are the ones who serve. If you fall down or someone put you down, or if things get tough, still be humble." He added.

‎As the seminar starts, Arch. Prudencio Sumera Jr., states the purpose of this seminar. It is a collaboration of minds from Arch. Jumar, Arch. Jyan, Arch. Hubert and Arch. Sumera Jr. to equip everyone and enhance research knowledge adressing flaws in Thesis Writing.

𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘 | 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀

Arch. Manny wasn't just a teacher; he was a mentor, a guide, and a friend to many. Known for his engaging lectures, patient guidance, kind consideration, and infectious enthusiasm, he fostered a love of learning in students that extended beyond the textbooks.

That is the legacy he left in the walls of Pangasinan State University - Urdaneta City Campus.

Arch. Manny's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to learn from him. His impact extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a legacy of inspiration and intellectual curiosity that will be deeply missed.

As a final act of respect and gratitude, after the flag retreat the next day, candles were lit and prayers were offered for the passing of the late Arch. Manuel "Manny" V. Manzano Jr., who left a lasting impact on his students and colleagues.

Even today, we hear stories of the late Arch. Manny, the previous Chairman of the Department of Architecture. Students share experiences about how encouraging and uplifting he was during enrollment and consultations, enlightening and intellectual in pointing out areas of improvements of each student, bringing out the best.

As a faculty member, he was an unforgettable colleague that was a friend they can depend on. Collaborating, outspoken, and straightforward, he wasn't afraid to speak his mind. Even during the RQAT inspections, the faculty presented the outputs finished by Arch. Manny before he passed away.

"That's the legacy he left." They said as they pointed out the finished compilations of the department's system and achievements. Till before the day he passed, he fulfilled his job. He has never forgotten his love for the Architecture profession and the potential of future architects.

We realize, that life is short, and we think, that he did too. But in his eyes, life is beautiful. There were plenty of challenges that he had to overcome, thus he told everyone that if he can, then we can do it too. He foresaw that Architecture students of PSU-UCC have the potential to design beautiful cities.

He believed in us, despite the challenging universe, so we should too. He is a one of a kind mentor.

We will miss you Arch. - your jokes and how kind you were to us. It is what you had done everyday that left an impact to everyone. You are the stepping stone of many students, and your memory will live with us till we can prove you right and make you proud.

Urdaneta City, Pangasinan - In a two week-long defense, 66 individuals of graduating Architecture students present numerous nearly finished Thesis Projects to panelists of professionally licensed and registered architects vying to apply everything learned in Architecture school.

Guided by their Thesis Technical Adviser, Arch. Aldwin Castillo, these individuals are systematically divided into 32 teams each composing 2-3 members to present 1 project each team.

The goal is to design a solution to a problem of a community or aid in the community's targeted visions that requires a complex design.

That being said, the 32 teams looked into various provinces particularly Pangasinan and its neighbouring provinces such as Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, La Union, Benguet Province, Tarlac, and Pampanga.

Topics or products of each team varies from Resorts, Hotels, Terminals, Academy, Central Market, Housing, Hospitals, to Centers and Complexes such as: Rehabilitation Center, Learning and Resource Center, Community Complex, Cultural Center Complex, Sports Complex, Management Complex, Cultural and Business Center, and City Hall Complex

Some titles focus on Restoration or Redevelopment, while others add a twist in designing such as using Parametric Design, Regenerative Design, and Mixed-Use Development.

There are also unique design solutions such as the Science Museum and the Ecovillage.

The type of projects are classified as Public, Private, Semi-Private, Semi-Public, or Public-Private depending on the purpose and use of the design solutions.

With the help of numerous consultations from individually-chosen advisers per team and the dedication and diligence of students, they were able to produce Block/Scale models, Architectural Plans such as Floor Plans, Elevations, and Sections, Analysis of the site, and many more.

66 graduating Arki students from Pangasinan State University is already a feat, but with this movement, we can prove that architecture students think what is best for the community creating solutions based on the site and its occupants.

Indeed, this batch of fifth years was never "Drawing drawing lang."

Baguio City, Benguet - Four instructors of the PSU-UCC Architecture department paid visit to the office of the University of Cordilleras (UC) to team up a collaborative partnership between the two campuses, giving an opportunity for a brighter future ahead for the architecture students and faculty of PSU.

Arch. Hubert Mislang, Arch. Jyan Delos Reyes, Arch. Jumar Balicao, and Arch. Prudencio Sumera Jr., with the approval of the chairman Arch. Javier Kenneth Ciriaco, represented the Architecture Department of PSU-UCC last March 6 in Baguio City.

The department intends to deal a partnership with UC in terms of Faculty Development, Student Mobility, and International Collaboration with UC's Global Partners.

As per their conversation, benchmarking between the two campuses is possible while official papers are being processed.

This collaboration extends the connection and opportunities for both faculty members and students, proving that in education and learning, we must broaden our horizons.

In its hindsight, UC is known for its excellent architecture program and has been the alma mater of majority of the department's instructors who has taken their Masters Degree, so this campus is very familiar with them.

Architecture students spearheaded by the United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary - Pangasinan State University (UAPSA-PSU) initiated the movement of exposing the best of the Architecture Department.

In a 4-day movement, Arki students aim in improving the department's bulletin board and displaying major achievements of current Arki student batches. In a major effort, all Arki classrooms were cleaned and seats and drafting tables were arranged appropriately.

This is to comply and aid the department for the ongoing Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) visit held on February 21, 2025, to garner the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) with their approval.

UAPSA-PSU led by Roseviel Mae Cristobal aided the department on the actual day of the visit divided in teams in the Fab Lab, CED office, Faculty, and AVR.

This time and effort of students has been noticed by their instructors, nurturing gratitude and a sense of unity within the whole department.
