Dr. Elbert M. Galas the PSU AREC Team represented by Engr. Harry Alan Errasquin and Engr. Rodel Hacla attended the recently concluded Philippine Conference on Energy Efficiency and Conservation (PCEEC) 2025

During the discussion Engr. Errasquin outlined Pangasinan State University PSUโ€™s initiatives on energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable energy. He detailed how was the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Office (EECO) was institutionalized in compliance with RA11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, and also how was the first AREC project of PSU become successful.

The Pangasinan State University โ€“ Affiliated Renewable Energy Center (PSU-AREC), in collaboration with the Department of Energy (DOE), successfully conducted a series of discussions and presentations on January 22-23, 2025, at Ylang Ylang Hall, PSU Golden Lion Hotel, Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Special thanks to Dr. Elbert M. Galas, University President, for his continued support of PSUโ€™s renewable energy initiatives, which have paved the way for meaningful collaborations and advancements in sustainable energy.

The event focused on key developments in renewable energy, technical assessments, and sustainability efforts, bringing together experts, researchers, and stakeholders.

The event featured Engr. Harry Alan P. Errasquin (PSU-AREC Director), Dr. Razeale G. Resultay (VP for Research, Extension & Innovation), Engr. Rodel P. Hacla (PSU-AREC Extension Head), Dr. Rhowel M. Dellosa (Center Head Science, Technology, Engineering and Environment), and the PSU-AREC staff who shared their perspectives on the future of renewable energy.

On October 28, 2024, the PSU-AREC Team conducted fieldwork in Sitio Tuli, Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija, to assess 51 Solar Household Systems installed under the DOE's Household Electrification Program in 2014. Despite steep and muddy terrain, the team completed beneficiary surveys, geo-tagging, and collaborated with local leaders to evaluate the project's impact on education, security, and daily life. This effort highlights the power of solar energy in transforming remote communities, one home at a time. ๐ŸŒŸ

From October 2-5, 2024, the PSU-AREC team conducted a comprehensive survey to assess the beneficiaries of solar household systems under the Department of Energyโ€™s Household Electrification Program (HEP). The survey covered Barangay Salazar, General Luna, and San Agustin in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija.

With the support of local leaders, the team gathered valuable insights on the long-term impacts of the solar systems. The results revealed inspiring stories of progress: increased access to education, improved home safety, and brighter, more connected family evenings.

On September 11-12, 2024, the PSU-AREC team traversed seven barangaysโ€”Abar 2nd, Culaylay, Malasin, Sto. Niรฑo 3rd, Tayabo, Villa Floresta, and Villa Marinaโ€”to assess 259 beneficiaries of solar household systems installed in 2011 and 2014 under the Department of Energy's Household Electrification Program (HEP).

With the invaluable support of local leaders, the team conducted a comprehensive survey of solar-powered homes, aiming to understand the systems' long-term impact. The findings highlight significant strides in community development: enhanced educational opportunities, improved safety and security, and brighter, more connected family evenings.

From June 10-12, 2024, the PSU-AREC team navigated muddy paths, rivers, and rugged, mountainous terrain, all while facing intermittent rainfall, to assess 88 Solar Household Systems (SHS) installed in 2019 as part of the DOEโ€™s Household Electrification Program (HEP) in Sitio Tamale, Barangay Digmala, Nueva Ecija. With the support of local leaders, the team conducted a thorough survey of solar-powered homes and led an informative IEC campaign, empowering over 185 residents with knowledge on renewable energyโ€™s potential.

The program has made a significant impact, empowering education, boosting security, and brightening family nights. Despite a few bumps along the way, the impact of solar energy is clearโ€”transforming lives, one beam of light at a time! ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ’ก
